Agitations for the change .in law arose from ,chambers of comm- (erce and other organizations in bor- der cities, which said that purchases were being made abroad and brou- ght into the U. S. duty free, not by tourists, but by residents or the border areas who were doing their shopping across the line. UNITS` ARE PROPOSED A suggestion that the collegiate and high school cadet col p 4 o.f Hur- on and other counties should be for- med into battalion units, was made by Lieut -.-Col. Rance, of Clinton, a t the annual dinner of the Middlesex - Huron Re men t, held at the z moriea Goderich. The Fp eaker advocated a summer cadet camp for' och county, where physical training under expert instructions would be featured. The 'scheme, he contended, would tend to make better citizens and develop a deeper sense of loyalty. This was the first get to-gether of the regiment's officers held in c,;.orlerich's new arm- ouries.
