Thursday, A Holiday
• When we mention to most people,
of Thursday, to -day, being a public
holiday, they wonder what it is all
about. But it is proclaimed thus, be-
ing in honor of Lee King's Birthday,
which is celebrated on this day. The
Schools and likely the Banks will be
closed, but in most of the smaller
places the .business will be carried on
just the same as any other day.
A. Busy Street
. Victoria -Street happens to be a
busy place this week. A few men
are engaged in putting in drains to
carry of the water, while the Utility
Manager, Mr. Harry G. Hess has a
large army of men engaged in dig-
ging the trenches for the pipe line
that is being run to the westerly part
re' town past the Evangelical church.
This will be the means of adding a
goodly number of 'nc. customers on
the water system, which can only be
made a paying proposition by the ad-
dition of many consumers, the sane
as a hydro or telephone system. The
work is well under way and by the
end of the week, will likely be pretty
well
