We congratulate the two Zurich
pupils who are attending Clinton Col-
legiate who are first and second in
the Easter Exams. in Form III of
a class of 27. The two boys are:
Mr. Fred Hess who heads the class
with 79 % and Charles Hay comes
second with 77%. So Zurich is a-
gain well represented in the first line
on the reports. For the past three
years Miss Gladys Gingerich who is
now attending London Normal was
practically always at the head of
her class, and we wish these two
boys continued success.
A SAD' FIRE
On Tuesday afternoon the com-
'niunity was shocked to learn of the
fire which completely destroyed the
fine almost new barn and contents of
Mr. Samuel Hendrick who lives on
the Blue Water Highway, about 3
miles: south of St. Joseph. Mr.
Hendrick who was working in the
field near the barn noiced that the
barn was afire which evidently had
started in the hay mow. The news
was immediately sent around and the
neighbors gathered but were unable
to do anything but try and keep
other buildings from igniting in the
vicinity, as there was a strong south
west wind blowing at the ;.acne which
urged on the roaring mass of fiames
and destruction. Besides the barn
and equipment twelve head of young
cattle and 34 pigs were consumed
as the fire was advanced too far tc
get these animals out. Fortunately
the milch cows were out in the yard
for the afternoon and escaped. No
matter to what extent our properties
are insured there always is a great
loss when fire consumes them, ane'
Mr. and Mrs. Hendrick have the
sympathy of the entire norrunity in
this untert"'nate loss,
