A Small Calf
In a recent issue' we made mention
-of the large calf given „birth to on
the farm of Mr. E. J. Weisser.' of the
Bronson line Which weighed 125 lbs.
This week we can say a few things
about a small Durham calf given
birth by a heifer on the farn, or Mr,
Jacob Gingerich of the Goshen line
touth. The calf which weighed ap-
proximately 20 pounds when born is
117 inches high, and has a length of
24 inches; about the size of a 'large
pet cat, is well formed and is being
fed from a seven ounce bottle, and
is thriving nicely, and will probably
some day make a large anitnaL
Purchases Large Grader
At a special meeting of the Coun-
cil of the Township of Hl held on
Wednesday, March 2nd, the council
authoeleed the perchase of a post:
grader from the Dominion Roatt
'Machinery Co., Goderich. . Delivery
of the machine will be made in
to use it on shaping the roads thi:
apring. Mr. Milton De:tz of tor. -
'has been appointed as the mechanic,
to operate this machine, and we think
he should be able to look after this
quite well. This system has been
adspted by many Townships throegh-
oneethe Provieee and is meeting with
good success, as with the fast and
heavy traffic throughout the year the
roads are always harder to be kept ir
shape, and with this large and pow-
erful machine it should make .a. vag
improvement on our towsishiperoads

Exeter Wins Play Off
The Berger silver cup emblematic
of League honors presented to the
Cyclone League by W. H. Hoffman
& Son of Zurich was won by the
Exeter Hockey Club on Monday ev-
elast at the Exeter Arena When
sueaeaded in winning the Cy
lone League finals in the play-off
with Hensall. The large attendance
of fans eontributed over $110 to the
coffees of the team and the arena, it
being the second largest gate of the
treason—The largest gate was reteiv-
ed the previous week in the semi -du-
als when Zurich and Hensall; Ceed-
ton and Exeter met. The Zurich
team are awarded the McMillan cup
far heading the league in tee sched-
uled games, having not lost a game,
but were eliminated by being defeat-
ed by the Hensel' team in the semi -
allele, and were counted cn to win
the League cup, but such are the
incidents in sport a little break here
and t tittle slip there makes winners
and losers.
