Mr. elector Laporte had the mis- fortune en Friday last of slipping on the ice and giving himself a severe back sprain, and while he is under medical care, we wish him a speedy recovery. Miss Doris Jeffrey returned to her home for a few weeks. Several from this neighborhood attended the funeral of the late John Deichert in Zurich on Sunday. Those that have had a watchful eye on old Lake Huron to supply them with storage ice are meeting, however, with some disappointment and unless old weather man stiffens up its beard we are afraid they will be ,out of luck. Mr. and Mrs. John Rau of the Blu Water, north, were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs, Morris Masse. Mr. and Mae. Chas. Laporte of Drysdale, Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Contin of St. Joseph were last Thursday 'visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Charette. Butchering in this community is being quite general of late ; and of course, the quilting bees are again the go! 'Clic weekly house dan;es that are being given in aid of some needed cause are meeting with great success• in this parish. Both young and old gather to gether for the evening.. and take part in the amusement:. The young people enjoy themselves in dancing; while the older class took on chat together and recall the days when they too could "'high -step" Certainly, there are still some of ad- vanced age who still show their ab- ility. Schilbe and Miss Anna Overholt motored to Guelph .last Friday. Mrs. C. Fuss just south of town was; taken` to London hospital for treatments are Mrs. Fuss is not enjoy ing' her usual health. Alt's. Clarence Hoffman and son Bobbie of Galt are spending the week with; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Siebert. Rev. E. Burn attended an import- ant committee meeting in Kitchener last :week, and also went to St. Joc- obs. M!rs. Alex. McConnell of Varna left recently for Florida where she will 'join her sister, Miss Esier. Mrs. McConnell will spend a few months in le 'sunny south. • D . J. A. Addison late of the In- tern 'Staff of the Royal Jubilee Hos- pital Victoria, British Columbia, has beer engaged as :assistant by Dr. A. t1Vi elcitaion of Zurich, and is now estru fished in the dootor.s office. Mr. Albert "Babe" Siebert of the. Montreal Canedian hockey team called on his parents Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Siebert early in the week. Babe was returning home from De- troit where his team played on Sunday evening, and on his way back dropped off and visited Zurich fri- able. OBITUARY Late Flora Uttley Death came as a great relief to the suffering body of Miss Flero Ut- tley,' daughter of Mr's. Wm. Uttley and the rate William UttIey, of Zur- ich on Sunday. who passed on at the age of 30' years, 3 months and 11 days. Deceased has been in a rather crippled condition for the last twen- ty years, going about with the aid of crutches, being of an arthritis con- dition, and the past few months she has not been enjoying her usual good Health. Always of a mild and cheerfixd disposition, Flora had made many blend's who will indeed miss her. Hes mother, three sisters and three brothers sirvive. The funeral was held on Tuesday morning to the St. SoniThce cTiurch for service and the cemetery- for interment. Rev. Father L. qG Power oft iiciating. tate So}in Carl Deichert The; •eald hand of death: came as a ,great surprise to many and called a- way the life of John Carl Deichert 'of Zurich on Thursday, February 3rd 'at the age of 63 years, b months and 18 Days. Deceased who was a form- er prominent business man of Zurich was well, widely and fovourably known far and near. Mr. Deichert's first venture in business was in the merchant tailor line, after which he joined as' partner in the meat mark- et business of. Yungblut & Deichert, from which he retired a few years j ago, and in which business Mn. Dei - chert came in contact with the pub- lic generally, and with his obliging disposition all learned to lore him. During the part year Mr. DLichcrt's health !began to fail owing to dialated heart, for which there woos little to be done, and he passed• rather sud- denly away. Surviving are two bro- thers, Jacob of Zurich and Nicholas of Detroit; One sister, Mrs. Henry Yungblut of Urfa where the dep- arted had made his home for some years; also four nephews and one niece. The romaine were laid to rest on Sunday itternoon, with services in the Lutheran church and interm4+nt in Luthe tut cemetery.
