Dr. A. J. MacKinnon of town who
has not been enjoying his good health
for .the past few weeks was ;east week'
taken to London hospital for treat- I
ment, and .only for the extreme told
weather and heavy roads, otherwise,
we think he would be back in Zurich
at his home. We all trust that Dr.
MacKinnon will be restored to good,
health in the near future.
Serious Accident
Edward Corbett, son of Fred Cor-
bett, of Hay Township, while assist-
ing in cutting wood in the bush on
his father's farm, almost severed his
right foot in two with an axe. The
young man was handling a new axe
and in some manner struck his foot.
The axe penetrated his rubber 'boot
and almost severed the great toe and
cut 'several tendons across the foot.
His father and another man assisted
in carrying him from the bush and
he was taken to the office of Dr.
Fletcher of Exeter, for surgical treat-
ment.
In Magistrate's Court
Appearing in Magistrate's court at
Goderich on Thursday, Mrs. Martha
Bailey, Ritz Hotel, Bayfield, pleaded
not guilty to a charge of having liq-
uor in other than a private dwelling
and was remanded on $1,000 bail to
appear one week hence. Police walked
into her hotel cn Christmas eve and
seized beer with which they allege
Mrs. Bailey was treating friends.—
Since Robert Snazel had pleaded
not
guilty and elected speedy trial be-
fore Judge Costello on a major fraud
and conversion charge, all other ch-
arges against him were set over for
one week, it is alleged that Snazel de-
frauded Wm. aHtter, Exeter dairy-
man out of $200 last May.--y"Back-
ward, turn backward, 0 time in thy
light," must have been the predom-
_nating thought in Court Crier Geo.
Tames' mind when he adjourned the
court with the following: "This court
now stands adjourned to meet at 2
o'clock. God Save the Queen'" he
said. James is a soldier of over 40
years standing and was a private in
the Victorian days.
