" • Both Mr. and Mrs. Ducharme are
still hearty considering their age.
Mr. Ducharme was a son of the late
Martin Ducharme, while Mrs. Du-
charme a daughter of the late
ndrew Wilson.
After an address was read by Mrs
Remie Denomme, grandaughter, suit-
able gifts were presented to Mr. and
Mrs. Ducharme by their child,•^n and
grandchildren which numbered in all
twenty-eight. Both Mr. and Mrs.
Ducharme made suitable rcpli 's to
the address, thanking their children
for their gifts and more so for the
great sacrifice to some for travelling
considerable miles, to show their
great love, and esteem to their aged
parents. The day was spent in chat-
ing and remnincing of early days of
the family.
The Address:
Dear Parents:
We, to -day your children.
and grand children have assembled
together on this great and unique
celebration, the 64th anniversary of
yoirr'wedded life. We bid you well
and trust that the Devine Providence
will spare you both to live more ye-
ars in our midst. You have been con-
soling parents to us in times of des-
pair, always giving .words of encour-
agement, and assisting each and ev-
ery one of us in our little trials.
And on this occasion we humbly
ask you to accept these little gifts
which are presented to you with our
Love and Affection.
Many Wolves . -
As long as Huron Township hp
Bruce County farmers have to put
up with wolves they are satisfied with
the absence of rabbits. Of late ye-
ars rabbits have done much damage
to trees and shrubs, but this year
they are untouched. Ont farmer saw
a wolf chasing a rabbit and it is be-
lieved wolves in the bush have driven
rabbits from many districts. One far-
mer reports seeing four wolves in that
area at one time. So far only one
hunter has been successful in bagg-
ing a wolf.
A Large Arctic Owl
Mr. Stanley Smith, son of Mr. and
".Irs. C. 0. Smith, just south of St
Joseph on the Blue Water Highway
aecently had the thrill of shooting
what is known as undoubtedly the
largest white Arctic owl ever fell in
these parts by the shotgun, as the
wingspread was practically six feet
The big bird was comfortably seated
on a fence post, and Stan., who has
^onsiderable tact in hunting and
'hooting, got the big fellow on the
wings before he shot, by so doing
the shots penetrated in through the
feathers and took effect. He advises
is that a neighbor had taken several
;hots at a similar owl with no results
as the shots only hit the heavy t'afte
of feathers on the breast of the .biro'
and glanced off like pouring water on
a duck's back. These large birds are
a little out of their di.Ltrict and clim-
ate, as they .generally live in much
colder climates. They are probably
pressed down here by their keen ap-
petites, as they love to catch their
food live and devour it 'when fresh.
Stanley advis^d us that he watched
me swooping down several tines in
ield, and finally he made anotl,
swoop down and fiew up with a lark"
r e bit in his claws, the rabbit strug-
gling for freedom, when the owl war
1p a certain distance he dropped the
*.ahbit which fell to the earth all
.mashed up, and Mr. owl then im-
mediately returned and picked up SUBSCRIPTION RATES—$1.26
the carcase of the rabbit and went off
with it to devour at its leasure. So
he old adage "be wise as an owl"
:till holds good,
