Carnival Postponed
ry:'Owing to circumstances which were
unavoidable the Carnival orr the Zur-
ieh Rink advertised for this Wednes-
day evening has been postponed till
Friday eve, 14th, and in case of bad
Weather, it will .be held on We Jan.
19th.There shold be a large turn-
dut at this annual event.
Owing to .the continued cold and
steady, winter weather a number. ,of
,sers are expr;;riencing a water
shortage at present, as on Tuesday
` i there were two tanks busy engagers'
Gin hauling out water to citizens wIta
experienced dry wells. The town's.
supply tank and deep' well is a !big
'relief to these citizens, 'and it is rel
igretable that the entire town is not
ipilr6d to supply all from this central
+point of .good water where there is•
suwaix an abundance of the same.
Still Confined to Bed
•Tire .many •friends of Dr. A. J.
Man-R`inrran will regret to learn that
thee Doctor is still confined to his bed
with an attack of sciatica and thinks
it most advisable, to stay in bed for
the' present. There are no class of
prof"essionaI mean that we need as bad
as our- medical doctors and when they
take' sick it is Darty too bad for the
rest of us. We trust Dr. MacKinnon
will' soon be hiraseIf again and able
to attend to Ha profession.

Water Highway near Drysdale has
a very productive, hares water well'
whieli• is about seventeen feet deep
and' ib not fed'. Tay and other running
stream ox tire:. The other day when
Fred was pumping• a pail of water
!fox~lioaase; nes there was a four inch
;live fish came up the pump with the
;water•, and Iris is a big mystery
;just how that fish carne to be in • the
hvelt. No erne has been able to• tell
what species of fish it is, but Filed'
says• he has it for proof. We would
suggest that Mr. ,Papineau give this,
well a ea+refulsurvey as there might
be his winter's supply of fish buried'
in this v1 -e11. However, we are glad'
that the fish was found in water, or
if it grew in the air of on the soil;
the; n y'stery would be all' the greater:
