Hunters Return
The .two local hunters, .Messrs.
Charles'.':iFritz and Wellington John-
ston, Sio enjoyed the two day's
shoot rig ;on Pelee Island on. Lake
Erie last week, returned on Satur-
day -With their quota of fine birds,
pile:,, 1tts. Laden with bird booty,
.1,8:00 then and women hunters 'be-
gan departing from the Island last
Friday night from the annual two -
day 1391easant shoat, going hone to
enjoy at the table this delicious and
rare game birds.. It was estimated
,hat irtore. than 15,00 pheasants we-
re. brought down in the two days. The
bag li nrit'is five—four cocks •and a
hen —each day of the shoot. Because
accom, odations are at a premium dur-
ing the „annual shoot, many hunters
brought tents and ' 'other' equipment
tis accornodation, as the .lone hotel
and private homes were taxed to the
utmost unable to handle the r unters.
With the bringing down of so many
birds,. 'one would think they would
soon become extinct, but they seem
to thrive wonderfully on this Island
as they breed very .rapidly and by
next year another full supply will be
oiz hand,
