Crediton Fowl Supper
Nine hundred persons, a near re-
cord, attended the annual towi sup-
per under the auspices of the 'Wom-
en's Association of the Crediton Ev-
angelical iChurch last Thursday even-

the drawing card for residents of the
district as well as from many out-of-
town points. Roads were crowded
with motor cars. The` Dashwood Band
supplied music after the supper hour.
W. Huron Teachers Meet
For the 60th successive year school
teachers of W. Huron gathered in
annual convention in Goderich on
Thursday, 125 strong. The recently
changed curriculum was the chief
topic of discussion. • An instructive
address 'on the new course of study
in the curriculum this year was de-
livered by V. K. Greer, chief inspect-
or of ,public and separate schools,
Toronto Inspector E. C. Beacom
gave a paper on marking entrance ar-
ithmetic; J. Creech of Exeter, gave
the presidental address, and •a chorus
of Goderich pupils under R. Player
rendered several numbers. At pres-
ent there are only 10 teachers in W.
Huron inspectorate receiving less
than $600 minimum salary as com-
pared with 35 one year age, Inspect-
or Beacom told the convention. He
urged delegates to strive for a min-
imum of $700 made possible by lar-
ger grants to boards which he said
would have to raise little to meet the
request. Teachers, he predicted, wou-
ld soon be able to pick their schools
for there are only 1,600' attending
Ont. Norm -al Schools compared with
2,500 last year. Moreover, many have
left the profession, never to return,
to enter other occupations, while
there was a surplus. Officers elected
were: Hon. president, Miss I. Shar-
man, B.A., Goderich; president, Vic-
tor C Dinin, Zurich; vice-pres., Ste-
wart Beattie, Varna; councilors, Ss-
ther Mellwain, Pauline McEwen, Jas
