heard the legend of Judas Iscariot and
his rod hair, the story of Lancelot and
Guinevere, and of Helen of Troy.
Found In Brittany
In later life Malory's Fifteenth Cen-

in the Mabinogon led me on a search,
hoping to sew together shreds and
tatters of superstition and half-re-

came;across the same belief that a

Tendency t4 Fat
Augurs Success
At Least Good Salesmen Gener-
ally Pack Plenty of
Weight
Successful sales managers have
small, full faces, short 'necks, round-
ed limbs, and a tendency to fatness,
S. 11. Mitchell told the Psychology
section of the British Association.
Someone in the audience asked
"Why?"
"Frankly, I don't know," replied
Mr. Mitchell_ "I suggest that there
may be some correlation between
physical and temperamental charac-
teristics, and being able to possess
that temperamental characteristic is
useful for a sales manager with a
tendency to fatness."
Mr, Mitchell added that the major"
ity of successful sales managers had
received their education at either
secondary, public or technical schools.

I?etrarch? He first saw her in church,
1,ea:ring a mantle of green over which
fell• her shining tresses, which he has
inimertalized in his sonnets. We know
so -little about her, although she re-
mains immortal. Minx or not, she is
believed to have been a married wo-

I spent two fruitless days searching in

of :Petrarch's red-haired Laura re-
mains!
Helen and Cleopatra
There was Helen of Troy, too, beau-
tiful temptress, who, according to leg-
end, had red hair. That scene on the
battl4ementst when the grave old men,
chirping like grasshoppers, found ex-
cuses for the woman who brought
abort the Trojan War, springs to
mind. So, too, does that of Cleopatra,
'Serpent of old Nile." Helen was love-
ly beyond compare, according to Hom-
er ome authorities tell us Cleopatra
was plain. Her voice was exquisite,
she had charm, and if the legend cif
red hair is true, she had -that magical
quality which so often binds like a
spell., ,..
Red'hair and temperament usually
go together, although when old BiddY
called it "temper" she may have been
right.

Clouds pass and pass and fill the blue
With piling bales, and then come new
Shapes and more; then, when at times
One hides the sun, there is a line

And listless living are sometimes

To sudden splendour. The minute's

Foot Health Rules
Based on Comfort
Ways For Preserving Good Pos-
ture at All Times
These rules are for foot comfort:
1. Wear shoes that fit well and give
your toes plenty of room. Don't wear,
shoes with extremely pointed toes or
extremely high heels.
2. Be sure your stockings are slight-
ly longer than your feet when you are
standing. Many women who buy well-,
fitted shoes ruin their feet with shor't-
footed stockings.
3. Keep your shoes in good repair^.
Never walk on run-down heels,
4. Change your shoes at least twice
a day if you can, and slip shoe formal
into them when they are not being I
worn.
5. Learn to carry yourself properly.
Bad posture is the chief cause of pain
ful, ugly feet.
Thugs Aid Victim
After _Robbing Him!
Police were searching for three '
unusual thieves who slugged Philip
Hoffman, 62, a night watchman for
the Ayers -Witmer Lumber Co., Nia-
gara Falls, N.Y., over the head with
a gun and robbed the safe of $100.
Then they dragged him to the
first-aid room, dressed his wounds
covered him with clothing and asked
if they could be of additional help.
Before he could reply, one asked him
if he had any money. Hoffman re-
plied he had only, a watch.
"Well, keep it," the gunman re-
plied, according to Hoffman. "We
don't rob pow working men. We're
only after the fellows higher up, and
we rob them plenty."
Peace Article Daily
In World Press Urged
Joe Toole, Lord Mayor of Man-
chester, Eng:, recently visited Cop-
enhagen with the idea of furthering
world peace. He came at the invita-
tion of Thorwald Stauning, Den-
mark's Prime Minister.
Mr. Toole was given a rousing wel-
come. He spoke of his aim to have
every newspaper in the world print
at least one article every morning on
peace. On the subject of this propo-
sition, he said, he had already lec-
tured in Paris and had been invited
to the United States.
