For 35 Years
lin Perfect Health at 73
Thanks to Kruschen
Thirty'five years ago this septua-
genarian was helpless with sciatica
Then he heard of Kruschon, Since
that day; he has enjoyed perfect
health, Here is his remarkable story:
"Thirty-five years ago I hada severe
attack of sciatica and could scarcely
move for about six weeks. Thou I
started taking Kruschen-about half-,
a -teaspoonful every morning in, hot
water. In a few weeks I got rid .of
the awful pain in my hips. I have
never had to consult a doctor since,
and am still in perfect health at '73
years of age, which I eau only attrib-
ute to taking _Kruschen Salto 'every
morning."-T.A.
Most people grow old long before
their time because they neglect one
vital need of health -the need of in-
ternal cleanliness. Eventually, they
start the healthy Kruschen habit.
Then, probably for the first time i11
their fives, they start getting rid,
every day, of all waste matter from
the system. The result ,is renewed
health and vigour. Ailments due to
clogged systems vanish, youth returns,
and life becomes reallyworth living,

SLICED VERY THIN
By Sixbits
"No Matter How Thin You Slice It -- It's Still Boloney'
Some seven hundred lovers of the thoroughbreds selected Easter,.
Hatter as the first half of Tuesday's Daily Double at beautiful Woodbine
but only three of them were prescient enough to hook onto Lotta Welles
and snag the sum of $1818 which the combination paid; which, may we
be forgiven, is a lotta dough.
* • *
•
However, without having been present and making the statement
only from memory of such happenings, we know that there were about
six hundred and ninety seven of the balance who were on their way to
the wicket to take Latta Welles when along came some false friend and
steered them on a dead one.
* •
For such is horse -racing, a pastime where you will hear more and
- jucier alibis than in any other sport we are acquainted with.
* • * *
In fact the sad talcs you hear around the horse bazaars are heart-
' rending, and they are no place for a guy with ready sympathies. We
will never forget, for instance, the look of horror on certain's man's
pan one afternoon out to Long Branch.
* • * •
This chap was blessed with a wife who was much opposed to the
sport of kings, and who used to fry him in very hot grease for wasting so
much time and money attending and playing the steeds.
* * • •
However, this particular afternoon, she says to him like this: "Well,
if you have to go to those silly horse races, bet this two dollars for me
on Soandso. I have a dream last night and in this dream I see Soandso
winning all by himself."
* * • *
So the guy says, "Thanks, pettie," and sinks the deucer away, say-
ing to himself that it might come in very handy because he. personally,
was about half out of money right then.
* * * *
Of course such silliness as wasting the two dollars betting on his
wife's hunch never entered his mind, because Soandso was the rankest
kind of an outsider, in fact many experts thought that Soandso should
be forced to pay admission to the track.
• * * *
Anyway, this expression of frozen horror we spoke about was on
---*haus-s- dial right after,.Soandso romped home on the front end, and
the poor"reiio"a...iatea ca74aasalaatasayeee_saaading. at the _...,
doorway of their little domicile expecting him to hand over $127.80, that
was the amount of the payoff.
• • * *
We just disremember - in fact we don't know if we ever heard -
exactly how he managed to wiggle out of this terrible predicament, but
we know that for a long time after he was a much chastened man, and
was heard to state often and passionately that if somebody asked him
to bet on the off horse pulling the track harrow to beat Man 0' War he
wouldn't even think of holding the wager, but would make the utmost
haste to go and shove it in at the mutue] window.
* * * *
We recall a somewhat similar occurrence. when a friend of ours is
handed - before starting for Thorncliffe, - a parley, said parley start-
ing on a steed which is running in the first heat, with all proceeds, if
any, going on one in the fifth.
m * * *
But on his way to the track this fellow gets delayed, stopping to
split a quart of gin, or some such, with a sick friend; so he arrives af-
ter the first race is in the bag, and is much annoyed - as you may sus-
pect - when he takes a peek at the board and sees that the first horse
of the parley has won at odds of SO to 1 or thereabouts.
* * * *
To make matters even worse, the horse in the fifth race looks like
the cinch of the day, in fact he looks like such a standout that the lads
promptly bet him down to two to five or worse.
* * * *
And many are surprised, when the race is run, to see another horse
come clown in the last fifty yards and nip this good thing right on the
wire. But we .are not among those so surprised, because we are standing
right alongside this fellow as they are running, and be is not rooting,
lie is praying. And the prayers he is saying are just about the most fer-
vent and heartfelt we ever heard on any race -track, or anywhere else
for that matter.

An order for 300 head of graded

imports of sheep to Newfoundland
from Canada have given satisfactory
results.
The order is being handled by tine

the order will be completed by the
