Juvenile Baseball On Monday August 9th, the local kids defeated Exeter's fine little team 6 to 3 on a rather slippery and mud- dy diamond. It was the second win of the season for the locals, because they played fine ball to back up the great, pitching of Bloomfield. On Friday, A ;crit 13th? (an. un- lucky day as you can see) the league leading Clinton team came to town to take on our • Juveniles. This was the '.best game of the year, featured by the superb -pitching of 'Draper of Clinton” and Bloomfield for Zurich. The game really should have been a scoreless tie as neither team had an earned run. One was allowed each team althoughneither one of them figured 'in the scoring. Draper had eleven- strilteouts and Bloomfield ten. It sure was a mighty fine pitching duel. Zurich scored their only run in the. •first inning. Little Wilmer Snider dee* a base on balls. Garrick hit to Nielands at third who to second trying to retire Snider on a force play, but ..tlie second baseman drop- ped the ball and both runners were safe. Bloomfield struck out. Yung- lblut then hit sharply to short where the ball was fumbled and then thr- own wild to first allowing Snider to score andGarrick +Garrick to go to third. Garrick promptly fell asleep and was caught off • base pitcher to third. Bedard struck out to end the inning. Clinton scored three in the fourth. ]'Draper walked, Nieland hit toward third and Bedard made a nice pickup and throw to first but Gesell° drop- ped the ball. .Colquohan was hit by r a • pitched ball and the bases were filled. Oampbell then struck out and Seely walked forcing in Draper with the tying run. Bother lifted a fly to left -field which McKinnon drop- ped allowing two more men to score Fremlin then popped to 'Bloomfield and the side was retired. This winds up the home games for the Juveniles for this year, but they still have two games. on the road to i, play. 4vae. seeem( C.F oima:icinnE o?7@aUDoockee vas "o ®a: seciQQf3c!'JrJso>ess S3 0 OVer e Heavy. hay crop!
