He went swimming Saturday night,

Wins Music Scholarship
An announcement made in Toron-
to, by officials of the Toronto Con-
servatory of Music stated that a Con-
servatury Jubilee Scholarship for
1937-37 had been awarded to Miss
Jean M. Woods, Bayfield, in Group
D, (Grades VII and VHI.)

Spilling Milk.

Motorist Ails Asleep
When he dozed off at the wheel
while driving along No. zs highway,
at Taylor's !Corners, at 1.45 the oth-
er morning Chas. Machan of Goder-
iclx woke up -when his tar crashed in-
to a guard rail, tore out several posts
and caromed into the ditch across
the road. The car was remolished': but
Machan escaped with a few bruises
and lacerations. He told police that
he went to sleep ,driving his car_

Annual Picnic
Speech making, sports and boat
rides featured last Wednesday's aft-
ernoon's annual picnic of Heron Co-
unty Connell gait harbor Park, God-
erich, when 200 .members, examerab-
ers, their wives and families took
time from the harvest fields to once
again fraternize and make merry
under ideal weather conditions. Two
ex -wardens, "Sandy" Young, of Col-
borne, and Owen Geiger, of Hensall,
both more than S0 years of age, were
among the wittiest supper -hour spea-
kers, tad- Vigils ex -Reeve WilIian Bailie,
of Goderich, another octogenarian.
Prize for the oldest ex -county eoun-
ilor present went to Mr. Young who
is 35, :Reeve J. M. Eckert presided
atthe supper. Prizes for the oldest
woman present went to Mrs. Owen
Geiger, The lucky prize was won by
Mrs. Saunders, wife of ex -Reeve W.
D. Saunders, of Exeter. Other` speak-
