Masse Family in Business
Huron County's Callander, the
home of the Masse family of 21 chil-
dren, in Hay township, is beginning
to flourish. In the last few days a re-
freshment stand and service station
have sprung up, with ga elfin? pump;;
hi the front yard. Souvenir postal
card pictures of the family and pho-
tographs also are on sale. Pape On-
ezime Masse has returned from the
hospital at London, where .he under-
went a serious . operation recently,
and he expects, to be, well again in
two weeks. He was seated comfortab-
ly in an armchair when a reporter
called on Sunday morning. A remark
able thing about the Masse home is
that there is less noise and confusion
when all the children ,are at home
than the average .h.ome:with- a •covple-
of boys. The date of the bestowing
of the Papal blessing upon the fam-
ily will be decided upon by Bishop
Kidd and Father L. lVIarchand. The
confirmation of the baby girl ' born
recently was to take place at the
church at Drysdale on Sunday last,
but the event was postponed owing
to the illness of M. Masse,—Goder-

Voluntary Hospitalization
Plan
FOR SOUTH HURON
ARTICLE I
,. (By Dr. A. Moir)
Beginning with July 1, announce-
ment is being made of a voluntary
hospitalizationplan, which is being;
inaugurated at Huron Springs, sttu-
ated between Hensall and Exeter, to
w rose home was with his daughter,
izr ICitclaener, was for many years,a
resident •of Hay township, living 'on
the farm on the 14th concession now
owned by Mr. Elmer Krueger, after
selling this farm to Mr. J. W. Horner
about 'twenty years, ago, he moved to
Hensel], where his wife predeceased.
Then a few years he sold out at Hen-
sall, moving to Kitchener. About:,2
months ago he came to these parts on
an extendid visit with friends, making
his headquarters with Mr. Conrad
Voil'and at Hensall, and visited sev-
eral times at Zurich, and just re-
cently called at our office advising us
that he is contemplating a trip to fri-
ends in Michigan. Mr. Beaver was
out hoeing in the garden of Mtn, Vol -
land most of the day and in the af-
ternoon went to the house and got
into bed, and shortly.after was heard
moaning and on ,investigating the
patient was unable to speak, medical
aid was surninonecl but uponarrival
of the doctor the patient was just
passing out, he'artfailur+ebeing the
cause. Mr. Beaver was about 75 yrs..
of age. He was well and favorably
known in these parts as a straight
forward man, and very pleasant to
meet. The remains were Immediat-
ely taken to Kitchener from where
the funeral was held on Friday after-
noon, Surviving is his only child,
Mrs. Browerly of Kitchener. a li:o has
is article to read with those follo-
wing. Briefly the plan is this: Sub -
"scribers will be entitled at a yearly
rate of $5.00 for adults, and $2.00
per year for dependent children un-
der 21 years. This will entitle the
subscriibef at any time or times dur-
ing the year, to 3 weeks free hos-
pital service, including board and
semi -private room (private when
avaiable,) nursing care under the
supervision of a resident graduate
nurse and free use of operating room
if required. This system is now in
operation in hundreds of hospitals
throughout Canada, U. S., and Great
Britain, and in many of these, sub-
scribers for the second year over the
first, increased by as much as 100%.
Wp know of none that have reverted
to the "former system. The project
has been' Canvassed from every point
of view.' Communications with the
Dept. of Health, Medical Association
and: Actui'ial Authorities have been
under *ay. Two enthusiastis and
unanimous meetings of the reeves
have already been held. The ten
doctors practising in the muntcipality
have been invited to attend person-
ally their patients there. In fact the
plan has been worked out with the
thought and thoroughness that such a
project deserves, and the public are
asked to give this article careful
leading In anticipation of the one
tho sympathy of the many friends in followieg' next week, when 'Tie pro -
this district, ject will be. explained in detail.
