In Police Court
After his hired man, Geo. Thorn-
ton, had pleaded guilty in magis-
trate's court at Goderich last Thurs-
day to three charges of theft involv-
ing 40 bushels of wheat, Robt. Sim-
pson, his employer, was willing to
forgive the transgressor and take him
back in his employ_ Thornton and
his younger brother, Clifford, who
pleaded guity to six charges of steal-
ing 230 bushels,were remanded to
jail for sentence. "May I have my
hired man back"? Simpson inquired
and when informed the hired man
must go to jail, he shook his head and

OBITUARY
A Child Dies
Mach sympathy is felt for Mr. and
Henry Schilbe of the 14th con.
ay,in the death of their two-year-
b1d •sbn,• hs4e passed away on Tues-
day;eveiiinghafter two weeks illness.
Although everything that could be
done; his life cbuld not be saved. The
1'tinex::21 will 'be held on Friday after-
noon. The parents have the sym--
pathy of ;a large circle of friends.
•Late John Weido
There passed away at his home in
Zurich on Wednesday evening, April
14th, John Weido, a widely known
and highly respected citizen at the
ripe ..old age of 82 years, 3 month,•,
and 7 days. The deceased who has
been a lifelong resident of the com-
munity, has been ailing practically
all winter, during which time he sp-
ent mostly in bed. During his life-
time Mr. Weido was a prosperous
farmer and a hard worwing man. For
many years he farmed just north of
Zurich, then he moved to the corner
of the Parr line, and from there he
retired to Zurich . about twelve year;
arg. In 1927 his wife Frena Stelek
predeceased, and is also predeceased
by a daughter, Mrs: George Hess.
Surviving are two sons, Wilfred
Weido of the Parr Line, Hay; Ehner
of Crediton; -two daughters, Mrs.
George Smith of London, and Mies
Laura at home. Two brothers also
survive, Jacob Weido of Zurich and
William of Detroit. The funeral
was held on Saturday from the fam-
ily residence to the Lutheran church
for service and Lutheran cemetery
,/or interment, with Rev. E. Turks
beim officiating.
