up to one o'clock p.m., Monday,
April 5th, 1937, for the following:
For supplying power to operate
the Township stone crusher in Welsh's
pit; contractor to supply drive belt,
.move crusher when necessary, supply
fuel and oil for power plant, look
after the crusher and keep it in good
running condition. Tenders to state
per cubic yard of crushed material
placed in bin. Township will main-
tain crusher, pay for grease and oil
used on seine and supply necessary
repairs.

59, native of Hay Township, died iier
hospital last Thursday-. Mr. Tierii n
resided in Hay Township, near Dash
wood, until 20 years ago when he
came to Stratford. For • a time be

South River and Fort, William, retu-
rning to the city a number of years
ago. He was a member of Centenni•
al Evangelical Church. 'Surviving
are his wife; one son, Nel:on, of
home, three brothers: Ezra anti Dav-
id, Dashwood; Edward,•t•ay Townsh-
ip; three sisters, Miss Emilia Tiernan
and Mrs. S. Thompson, London, and
Mrs. Kraft, Dashwood.

Easter Services at Evang. Church
Easter services of the Evangelical
church were of special interest to
theCongregation. The inspiring ser-
mon of the morning held the atten-
tion of the large audience; subject,
"The Meaning of Easter." The
choir ,pupported the service with a
triumphant anthem. In the Sunday
school session a short program con-
sisting of songs and recitations was
presented under the direction of
Mrs. M. Ewald. In the evening ser-
vice members of the Sunday School
presented "The Red of the Dawn"
e-iven in story and song. This s"'i• -
ice was very efficiently rendered and
made a deep impre •cion on all p:•
ent. Addileen Geiser efficiently pre-
isded at the pipe organ.

WHO REMEMBERS THIS?
The following items may be of
interest to a few of our order citir
ens, as published in the Huron Ex-'
positor last week, and reprinted from
March 25, 1887 Mr. Charles Tro-
yer of Hillsgreen, the genial store-
keeper, has sold his store, house and
lot to Wm. Consitt for the handsome
.sum of $2,500.—Tuesday last. the
22nd inst. being the 90th birthday of
Kaiser William of Germany, the ev-
ent was celebrated in Zurich by the,
ringing of bells. on the Lutheran and
Evangelical churches and the firing
of a royal salute by Mr. John Deich-
ert with his anvils.—Tine people of
Zurich were considerably excited on
Wednesday morning last on learning
the store of Mr. D. Steinbach had.
been entered by burglars, the safe
blown open and a considerable sunii
of money and some jewellry carried
off
To Cultivate 1,300 Acres
Further details on the purchase of
7,000 acres of farmland near. Grand.
Bend, by Drs. L. G. and J. E. Hage
meier, of Preston, was made known
as the sale was confirmed. This pro-
ject, the largest of its nature in On
tario, is now being developed with
50 men employed. 1300 acres will
be under cultivation this year with
barley, sugar beets, soya beans a nd
peas sown, while year by year, as
the land is cleared, further cultivati-
on will follow until 5,000 acres are
under cultivation. Immediate plans
are entirely of an experimental rat-
vire with seed being planted in soil
to which it is particularly adaptable.
Two thousand acres of the land,now
a duck :marsh, will be retained as
such. John Schuller, Preston heron-
..lnee;ct. is in charge of the work on
the :farm..

Mr. Jos. S. Bedard, who has been
suffering with eye infection for soma
time, we are sorry to report is now
in St. Joseph's Hospital, London, wh-
ere he is receiving treatments.

of Detroit. spent Faster with their
'parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Duchaime
and Mr, and Mrs. Jos. Beradr.
Misses Florence Denomme and
Eugeine Aubnn are spending the Eas-
ter holidays w'th friends in Detroit.
Mr. and Mrs. George Jeffrey, and
Mrs. Ed. Brisson attended the wed-
ding of Mr. Wilfred Ducharme at
Zurich on Tuesday.
Rev. Father Brisson of London
Seminary was a Thursday visitor
with his step -mother, Mrs. Ed. Bris-
son.
Mr. Frank Jeffrey of Beavertown,
is doing the outside work for. Mr. Ed.
;Mousseau, who is confined to the
house with a cold.
Mrs. Alex. Masse of .the 14th con.
was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital,
London 011 Monday evening, and op-
erated on for appendicitis.
Mr. Jery Mero of Zurich made a
business call here on Monday.
iSpring seems to be here, a goodly
number of robins are seen, and ev-
erything now points to an early seed-
ing, as there is no snow on the gro-
und, and the wind and sun are dry-
ing off nicely.
The surveyors are stili at work in
staking out the fences to be built in
the near future. The road bed on
the Blue WaterHighway is very
good at present.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Lobsinger and
family of Kitchener were Easter vis-
itors with her parents, Mr. and Mrs,.
