Many Deer
Residents of the hayfield district:
• report an increasing number of •deer
in the bushland to he seen ehfiost
any "day of the week. Ont man 'states
his belief there must be 100 deer be
tween Bayfield and Varna. He re-
ports seeing 11 during a short walk
along the river •bank. Deer also are
said to be plentiful in the northern
end of the county. They are-alniost
displacing jack rabbits as a problem
and a menace to crops.
HAD BAND CONCERT
A crowd which filled Leavitts The-
atre, Exeter, to overflowing on Sun-
day night, gave an enthusiastic re-
iception to the concert by the Exeter
Band. Under the direction of Band'-
master T. Walper the 35 ,andsmen
'presented a varied repertoire. J. C.
Lougheed, bandmaster at McMaster
University, Hamilton, was the guest
artist. In addition to his instrunl-
ental numbers on the trombone, he
gave several whislting selectionsnnd-
bird imitations.
