HAD MURKY WATER
. Residents of Goderich viewed with.
distaste last week the muddy water
which issued from taps and left hes
vy sediment in sink and basins. The,
..
murkiness is caused by the current
of the muddy Maitland River pour-
ing out in the lake in the region o
the intake pipe officials said. . Also a
contributing factor is the lack of aee,,
in the lake, which is entirely clear
outside the harbor, :.most unusual for
this time of year. Winds have also
stirred the open water, rousing dint
from the lake bed.

at Goderich, nearly three weeks ago
Frank Sproat, 28, Seaforth, was not
given one chance ,in a hundred to
survive. His physician gave him 48
hours to live. Today, he was .reported
out of danger. His recovery has been

M. Graham stated. He is rapidly re-
gaining his mental facultiel. There is
a hole in Sproat's skull two by two

remove this part of the skull from
the brain.

A REAL FISH STORY
In a letter from Mr. Everett Heist,
Zurich's former popular baker, to his
sister, Mrs. Emmery Fahrner of Creel
Ron, the folheving event is described:
Mr. Heist, who is now holidaying in
Miami, Florida, states that he, with
a party of men from Boston and
New York, chartered a boat f -r a
days' excursion, of deep sea fishing.
Fortunately, he was given first
chance in fishing. After the hook
was baited with a fish about -eight
inches long, by the Captain of the
boat, he was instructed to sit in a
chair, in the rear of the boat and
try his luck. After a short space of
time, he felt rather a heavy tug on
his line, and to his surprise was me
able to land his catch single-handed.,
With thte aid of the Captain and
Mate, after fourty-five minutes str-
uggling, they landed what is called
a Sail Fish weighing fifty pounds.
On reaching shore a 1. rge crown
gathered to see this unusual catch
Among the crowd was an Edmonton
newspaper Reporter, who was very
anxious to take a picture of the lucky
fisherman and his big catch. The
;reporter said they always try to get
the names of any Canadians, who
are fortunate in making such unusual
catches. Mr. Heist also intimated,
that he intends having the monster
treated by a taxidermist, and shipped
home:
Ifs he lets it •run,
he's careless.
If' his Percentage of loss
he's no good.
If it's low,
he won't take a chance.
If he kicks,
he's a crab.
If he's alive,
he doesn't know it.
If he wants to 'increase expense,
it's absolutely unnecessary.
If he stays in a rut,
some young hot-air artist gets
his job.
