The whole British Empire is, thr- own in a stage of turmoil at present as the new King Edward VIII has decided to marry a. Mrs. Simpson, an American society woman who has been trice•divorced. This marriage is .contrary to British tradition and at present it looks as if the King would abdicate the Throne and put his time in fir his awn happiness in- stead of the ruling of the Empire as formerly. Anyway, we hope they, can find some way out so that we may maintain a King. 4.-+ HENSALL ELECTION RESULTS 'Following is the election results of the Municipal election of December 7th For Reeve Poll I Poll IA Total Rich E. Huron has long had 'the 'reputation of having the best county roads in Ontario..A salt tre- ated road dries very quickly after a. rain, and such conditions make it necessary to give the maintenance careful thought. The Engineer said So far as the use of salt and calcium chloride on gravel roads is concerned a big improvement is secured through their use, but the roads are still gray- el,,,roads, and have many, of the defih- cicies associated with thein, so that I do net feel that a cure-all for all road conditions can be obtained in thi .way. T believe, however, that the use;,of .!salt will be of much more general benefit on roads of lighter traf c,; I am satisfied that the best in- vestment in a road surface is in the 7(ow bituminous roads of which we have ,some . excellent saanple; on our system. We .have in the county about 0. mOiles of Toad on which such a Surface wiuld give greatly improved service to the traffic at a cost which wiurd ultimately be little, if any, greater than we are now paying for ordinary gravel surface."' No Action "No action" was reported on the 'equelst of the Township of Stanley and.the Police Village of Zayfield, to appoint George Little a county constable. It was decided to defer action until 1937, on the request of Reeve Geiger, of Hensall, to ask the Provincial Government to take over the Hensall Road west to the Blue Water Idighwayitlrrough Zurich. It also was •a►sked that rail- • ways, be enforced the law respecting transients.
