Hay Council met on Monday and
the doings of, the minutes will, be in
our next issue.
Mr. Quimby Hess, of Toronto Uni-
versity is home a few days owing to
the injury of his brother Pau),
Mr. Chas. Fritz and Ward Ware et
Windsor, visiting the former's bite
ther, who is ill at the home 'of his
daughter. in that city.
Mr, and Mrs. D. Oswald .of the
Bronson line were Sunday visitors at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. C.

Mrs. Andrew F. Tress is at London
in comrihny with her. son Paul who
is convalscent in Victoria 'Hospital
from iniuries received last Thursday
afternoon when there was an auto
accident.
A number of men from the Men's
Brotherhood of Stratford Evangelic-
al church put on the servicesin the
local Evangelical church Sunday ev-
ening. Mr. Heideman was'chairmen
and gave the address. The quartett
also rendered several numbers c
ably. There was a large attendance.
FARM SOLD
Mr. George J. Thiel of town has
sold his 100 -acre farm, a short dist-
ance immediately south of Zurich, to
Mr. Bruce Koehler has had the farm
on the Parr Line, owned by -,Mr. G.
Blackwell, leased for the Bast two
years.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Reith of Ing-
ersol were in town Thursday, enjoy-
ing the fowl supper,
Mr, Wm, Dumart, acconmpanied
accompanied by friends from K.itch-
ener were in town Thursday, enjoy-
ing the big supper.
The choir of the Evangelical chur-
ch are taking charge of the coming
Sunday evening's ,,ervice, Nov. 8th.

A. C. Levy of Clinton visited
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mer-
lin Wurm for a few days, ahro at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. D. Oswald

ested to be present. The gathering
will take place at the Town it ..
and all will march over to the mon-
j ument, where short addresses will be
held, All war veterans are particu-
larly urged to be present, as well zs
all others interested.
Mr. Henry Howald had a near ser-
ious accident the other night when in
some way at the head of the stairs
lie became overbalanced in the dark
with the result that he fell head for-
ward down the stairs to the landing
part way down. He was consider-
ably shook up for a few days bue we
are pleased to say is up and around
again. •
,Halowe'en was observed in town
on Saturday eve., and the kiddies

bigger fellows, as the places of bus-
iness were open till nearly midnight
after which it was Sabbath, and no
time for any pranks.
The other day while Mr. John
Fiaxbard was assisting at the home
of -Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Oesch of the
Bronson line, he was suddenly stvi-
cken with a .stroke, and medical at-
tention was immediately called, but
he is improving nicely, and will be
taken to his home with his sister, MTS
L. Kraft of town.

Under- the new provisions in respect to
the Dominion housing Act
The Bank of Montreal is co-operating in the plan
announced by the Dominion Government for assisting
home owners who wish to renovate, modernize or other-
wise improve their homes, and it is now prepared to
make loans to property owners under the new provisions
of the Dominion Housing Act. Briefly, the provisions
aegarding home improvement loans are:
•Maximurn loan on one property —• $2,000,
*Discount—Charge equal to $3.25 per $100. of
the face value of the note, for one year, pay-
able
ayable in advance. Repayment by monthly instal-
ments.
•Loans to be used solely for improving and
repairing existing property, and not for build-
ing on vacant land. Improvements include all
such work as new plumbing, remodelling_ of
rooms, installation of furnace, painting, roofing,
etc. Fixtures, which are not removable atta°ch-
ments or appliances, are considered improve-
ments.
•No endorsers are required.
•Loans;;,made to owners only. Properties on
which loans may be made include; private
homes, duplexes, small apartment houses, farm-
houses and combination store and dwelling
houses.
•Standing of taxes, mortgage payments, etc., to
be acceptable to the lending institution.
