Mr. Urban Pfile of the 14th con-
cession is laid up with a sprained
ankle. While alighting from the
threshing machine the other day in
some way he sprained his ankle,
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Wurm of the
village, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Oswald of
the Bronson line were Sunday visit-
ors with Mr. and Mrs. Carl MeClin-
chey, Chiselhurst.
Anniversary services were held in
Varna United Church on Sunday,
October Ilth. In the morning the
Rev. Gardiner of Londesboro preach-
ed an interesting sermon and in tha
evening an inspiring sermon was de-
livered by Rev. Garland Burton, of
Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Turnbull of
the Blue Water Highway, a few miles
south of St. Joseph have recently
moved to Grand Bend :and are oc-
cupying Mr. Southcott's house for
the winter. They are welcomed at
the Bend.
To Meet At Seaforth
East Huron Teachers' Convention
held at Blyth on Thursday and Fri-
day last chose Miss Helen Am'ent, of
Ethel, with home at Searorth, as
president for the ensuing year. The
retiring -president was Mr.. Gray of
Blyth. The 1937 convention will be
held at Seaforth.

ed to the hospital in London on
Thursday night and underwent an
operation for appendicitis.

A pretty wedding was solemnized
at Trinity Lutheran Parsonage, Lon-
don, on Saturday, when Selina C.
youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Rader of Dashwood, became
the bride of Mr. Maurice Leroy, eld-
est son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Klumpp of Dashwood. The bride was
wery handsome in a wedding gown of
red transparent velvet with cream
trimmings with hat to match and
silver slippers. The bride's attend-
ant was *Miss Lylyan Rader of Zur-
ich,
cousin of the bride, who wore a
green crepe dress with accessorie to •

A Good Supper •
Thursday evening last, October 15,
was the date of the big fowl supper
,ponsored by the United Church at
V:arna. The Weatherman being very
favourable, 'consequently a large
lumber turned out, nearly seven
hundred :people were fed and well
fed at that, as the tables and plates
were laden with fowl and all that 'gO-
es with it to make it a real supper.
The crowd gathered early around 6
o'clock, and the serving lasted till
about eight. During this 'time' the
Varna Orchestra delighted the large
gathering with their lively music,:

• Evangelical Anniversary
The 41st anniversary of Calvary
Evangelical Church, Dashwood, was:

;,tendance, Rev. S, R. Knechtel, of Duo
Kitchener, was the guest spea':er.I
Special music was enjoyed at both
services. The choir, -under the dir-
ection of Mrs. J. M. Tiernan, render-
ed an anthem at each service. with
Miss Anne Tiernan as accompanist.
Rev. E. Burn, of Zurich, assisted at
the evening service. Large baskets of
dahlias and fern were attractively
arranged for decoration. The colored
Quartette !"The Mississippi Four" of
Erie, Pa., rendered several selections
at the Sunday evening services, and
on Monday evening they put on their
sacred concert, which was followed
by a supper in the basement of the
church.
Koehler—Kraft
A pretty autumn wedding took
place on Saturday afternoon at the
Lutheran parsonage, Dashwood,
when Elda Catherine, elder daughter
of ;Mrs. John Kraft and the late
John Kraft became the bride of Er-
nest Frederick Koehler of Kitchener,
son of Mr'. and Mrs. Frederick Koeh-
ler of Bavaria, Germany. Rev. T.
Luft officiated; The bridal attend-
ants were Miss Varna Kraft, sister of
the bride and Harold Kraft, cousin
of the bride. The bride was prettily
in a frock of coronation blue velvet,
with marcasite buckle and clips and
Queen Anne collar. With this she
wore a small vervet hat and suede
shoes in matching color. Her brides -
Maid, Miss 'Verna iraft chose a be-

With accessories to match. After the
ceremony a reception was held at the
hone of the bride's mother. Later
a, wedding dinner was served by the
MiSses'ituth. Tieman and Louise
Wil -
lent, cousins of the bride. The dim
tier table prettily decorated in pink
and white was centred by a wedding
cake, each were being supported by
a wedding cake, each tier being sup-
ported by four silves cupids. For
travelling the bride chose a navy,
-ensemble. After a short honey-:
moon Mr. and Mrs. Koehler will re-
side in Kitchener.
