Mr. Charles Pope of Brussels is
servicing the large fuel oil engine at
the Williams Mill .this week, and as
we close our forms we hear that the
big power plant is again• in motion.
Rev. and Mrs. F. L. Howaid and
three children of Elmwood, are spend
ing a few days with relatives in the
village. They have just. completed a
month's holidays camping at Goebel's
Grove, Port Elgin.

( Intyre of Crosswell, Mich., Mr. and
Mrs. Kenneth Laidlaw and Miss Ester
of Detroit were week -end visitors at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Welber. Mrs. Cathern Beers of Buf-
falo, Mrs. Mary Dem.uthe of Port
Arthur who have been staying at the
home of Mr. Weber's for some time,
returned with .the former visitors.
GODERICH FAIR NEXT WEEK
Tuesdty and Wednesday next, Sep-
tember 22nd and 23rd, the Goderich'
Industrial Exhibition takes the floor.

CLINIC, MEETING
Providence has blessed these parts
lately with abundant showers. A
heavy electrical storm passed over

General Hospital, Goderich, on Sep.

In Police Court
At Goderich on Sept. 10 for the
fist time in Mpg. court history of
Huron County court attendants, pol-
ice 'ofimeeis, lawyers and spectators
rose from their seats; many standing
to attention, as Prov. Mag. J. A. Ma-
ions; a. twinkle in his eye, entered the
courtroom dressed in the latest mag-
isterial garb—formal morning coat
with gray striped 'trousers, wing col-
lar and ;black tie—took his seat on
the bench and •.-aiving the assembly
"be seated".—A charge -of false pre-
tences against W W. Thompson, of
Toronto, was withdrawn, Crown At-
torney D. E. Holmes explaining that
certain circumstances had come to
light and that the crown had no evi-
dence to offer. Likewise, Carl Mess-
ner, stock salesman, Kitchener, )air
three fraud charges against him dis-
missed. It was alleged that he mis-
represented Red Lake Centre Mines
stock to be guaranteed by the min--
ister of mines, there were three com-
plaintants and the Crown Attorney
said'' the complaints presented no evi-
dence. Lloyd Reicht, of Wroxeter,
charged with fogery and uttering, in-
volving a $10 cheque with the name
John Routledge affixed, pleaded gui-
lty and was remanded to jail for one
week for sentence. The same young
man chagred with operating a motor
oar while his license was suspended,
pleaded not guilty, stating he had
not, received notice of suspension
frons the department. The case was
laid over for a week. Garfield Finlay,
of Wingham, was given six months
definite and one year indeterminate,
concurrent, for chicken thieving. A
charge against jos. Murphey, McKil-
lop Twp., farmer, of permitting his
horses to run at Marge on a highway,
was dismissed after a lengthy hear-
ing. Howard. Kastner, Sebiingvi4Ic,
driving a •higlipowered car, on Aug.
11; ran into one of Murphey's horses
at an intersection near Seaforth, kill-
ing it, and damaging his ear. The im-
pact was so violent that male horse's
head crashed the windshield, injuring
,the driver; the car careening on 120
'feet Carrying the rarcas, before fal-
ling the dutch.
