election, whenever it comes. He is an
outstanding speaker and will support
Mr. Rowe on the speaker's platforn,
at the picnic.
BRIDE IS HONOURED
At Trousseau Tea
A very dslightful afternoon and
evening were spent on Wednesday
last when Mrs. R. N. Douglas, Blake,
Ont., entertained in honour of her
daughter Margaret, whose marriage
took place on Saturday, August 8th.
A large number of friends called
during the afternoon and evening e o
see the bride's trousseau and lovely
gifts. Tea was served in the dining
room which was artistically decorated
for the occasion. Mrs. A. T. Douglas
and Mrs. J. A. Carnie poured tea in
the afternoon with the Misses Norma
Douglas and Maribel Carnie as assist-
ants. In the evening Mrs. Walter
Wallis and Mrs. Bertha Bell were
assisted 'by the Misses Sean Carnie
and Mary Clarke. Those displaying
the gifts, Iinens, and trousseau were
Miss Gladys Douglas, Mrs. Jas. Scott,
Mrs. Mervyn Cudmore, Mrs_ W. J.
Douglas and Miss Martha Nichol.
Other assistants were: Miss Margaret
Tough, Miss Gwen Clarke, Mrs. Earl
Barber, Mrs. W. Broadfoot, Miss Al-
berta Finlay and Miss Marguerite

The regular monthly meeting of
the Council •of the Township of Hay
was held in the Town Hall, Zurich,
Tuesday Aug. 4th with. all members
present. The minutes of the July me-
eting were adopted.

holidays with their parents, namely,
Mr. and Mrs. "Dave. Geromette of Mt.
,Carmel, and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. La-
porte; Drysdale.
Much sympathy is extended to
Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Schilbe at the
loss of their infant daughter who
was born last Wednesday and passed
away early in the week. Funeral
services were held on Monday after-
noon. We sympathize wide the be-
reaved` •,
The Memorial Services held at St.
Peter's,Lutheran Cemetery, Goshen
Liiie south on Sunday afternoon,
was in every way a success. There
was a good attendance of friends
who had loved ones burried on this
sacred acre, and numerous other fri-
ends participated. The program was
very suitable for the occasron. The
Dashwood Henrich Memorial Band
gave a very appropriate program,
well rendered and much appreciated
by all present. The pastor, iiev. E.
Turklieim also spoke very fittingly
for the occasion.
OBITUARY
Late Louise Finkbeiner
One of the sadest deaths that has,
taken place in the community for
some tiane took place at St. Joseph's
Ho'spital,' London on Saturday, .lug•
ust 8th, when the Angel of death
claimed the young life, so full of
promise; of Louise the only daughter
of Mr;' and Mrs. Harrington l+ink-
Ibeiner,Goshen Line south of Zurich.
Her age being 11 years, 8 months
and 21 days, and had been ill for a-
bout three weeks with an infection
in the head. 'Twelve clays previous
to her death she was taken to the
London • Hospital, where all that
medical science could do was danc
for her; but she finally slept away.
She was a bright and cheerful young
girl and everybody who knew her is
in deep sympathy with the fancily.
Surviving are her parents, and two
smallbrother, Howard and Maurine,
9 and 5 years old;. also her grand.
parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Rink -1
beiner of Crediton; and Mr. and Mr;
Conrad ,Schilbe, of Zurich, The fun-
eral was held on Monday from her
'some to St, Peter's Lutheran Church
7,urich, with Rev. E. Turkheini otil-
•iating. The teacher and pupils of
S. S. No. 8, Hay, of which she was a
pupil, attended the funeral in a body,
The pallbearers were: Russell, Dalton
and Alvin Finkbeiner, Charles Thiel,
Paul Hess and Lloyd Klapp, inter-
ment taking place in the Lutheran
