HAS FIRE PROTECTION
Nearly sixty Council members and
officials of Huron and Lambton co-
unties gathered Friday last at Huron
County Hone for the Aged at Clin-
ton, where Huron County Council
has just completed a fire protection
system costing in all nerly $6,000.A
demonstration was given by apply-
ing heat to ene of the 288 firestats
located throughout the main building
this put on an alarm at the fire hall,
Clinton and in a few minutes a
number of hose lines were. ready for
action. Protection is also available
to barns and other outbuildings.
COUNTY WINNER
Goderich, Nov. 20 — 15 of Huron
County's youthful orators, winnears
at their respective school fairs, this'
afternoon competed in the annual
finals public speaking contest spon-
sored by Huron 'County Council be-
fore a large and representative aud-
ience from all parts of fiie county.
Lenore Normington, of Hensall, re-
peated her success of last year in
the senior division. In a clear voice
with excellent enunciation • and de-
livery she thrilled the big gallery on
the subject "Our Heroes of the Sea".
She will represent Huron in the pro-
vincial eliminations.
ANNUAL REPORT
The extent to which the Bank of
Montreal is participating in the war-
time activity of industry and com-
merce through its branches in every
part of the Dominion is impressively
