The. Y.P.S. met in the Sunday

During the busbies discussion it wa.s
dbeided to have a membership drive.
Also, to have a social evening in the
hair future. The meeting closed
with a hymn and a closing prayer.

Beautiful red roses were seen in
full bloom in the garden of Mr. and
Mrs. E. L. Mitkle when the ground
was covered with the first snow fall,
but the mild weath or Indian sum-
mer encouraged them- on.
RED CROSS NEWS
An emergency appeal for x'500„000
for snedical and relief supplies • for
Soviet Russia was' launched by the j
Canadian Red Cross this week. The
funds raised in this appeal will' be
used to purchase medical supplies
and ,surgical equipment, which wiiT be
shipped direct to Russia via Britain.
One of the things handicapping Rus-
sia today is the lack of modern med-
icines, surgical instruments and op-
erating room supplies which are so
vitally necessary tee combat disease
and .suffering under war conditions of
such gigantic scale. The appeal is
being made at.the request of the Do-
minion government. Every dolI<ar
raised will be spent in Canada, and
shipped through the free freight fac-
ilities of the Red Cross, which means
that when the supplies retie Russia
