Mrs. Mary Miller and daughter Mrs. W. B. Cotton motored to God- erich one day this week, Mr, Calvin Williams has returned, after spending a few days with his cousins, Mr. and. Mrs, Orville Lhne.s in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Carlisle of Jlensall were Tuesday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Lee Willert. • Mr. and Mrs, Austin Hey of De- troit; NIr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hey of Crediton and Miiss Margaret Hey of London, were Sunday visitors with their mother here. Pte. and Ma's, Lawrence Bedard of Kitchener were week -end visitors at the bone of the former's parents,Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bedard. The for- mer returning to duties while the lat- ter remaining in Zurich a few days. Messrs Clare and 'Charles Surerus who had •been at Wanharnick, Ont,, for some time have both enlisted in the Canadian Army and are at pres- ent training at Toronto. Moving to Exeter Mr. Ernest Gaiser, of Ilay Town- ship, has purchased the residence on Andrew street now occupied by Robt. Crawford. Mr. and •Mrs. Gaiser and family will move to Exeter 'in. the near future. Fractures Leg William John Devereaux, cattle drover of Seaforth, suffered a frac- tured leg Thursday last when struck by a car as he was walking along the highway east of Seaforth. Alex Martin, an Exeter Old boy, and for many years manager of the Dominion Tire Company at Kit- chener, has been named deputy con- troller of rubber for the Department of Munitions and Supply, it was ]earned at Ottawa. A Correction The Printer, as well as other people, all maks an occasional mistake and he has a rather dignified way of put- ting his mistake by calling it a "typographical error", but no matter what he calls it, the mistake is there and noticed by everyone who reads the print. In our recent issue such a mistake occurred' as we mentioned of iMss Doris Meyer; taking a posit- ion in Toronto, as clerk in the band, it should have been bank, and we trust most of you did not take the error too seriously. Briday Shower On Monday evening the neighbors and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Foster (bridal couple) to welcome them home and also presenting them with a miscel- laneous shower, which was a great surprise to the bridal coupre. The address was read by Miss Norma Paisley and the presentation was made by 1rs. (l, rye Farwell, in a basket decorated with pink and white \*:hic'h cont:+int'd gifts to over- flowing. After \Irs. Foster had op- ened the sauna she greatfully thank- ed every one for their kindness shown towards then. The basket al- so containd a special gift for Mr. Foster for which he very gratefully thanked. County Temperance Federation Annual Convention will be held on Wednesday afternoon, October 29th, at Northside Church, Seaforth, at 1.45' p.m. Mr, W. G. Medd, is president; and Rev. W. A. JOSEPH AIRPORT Some air activities will likely be taking place in Hay Township before another year has passed, as the St. Joheph landing field is being under- taken and about ,five hundred ,acres of land will be used for this pur- pose, mostly the farms affected will be in from the 14th concession road. Persons who do not receive one should apply at their Post Office where copies of the Licensing Order may also be secured A Window Certificate and a Licence Identification Card will be issued to each licensee. The Certificate must be affixed to the main door or an adjoining window of the place of business.
