HAY COUNCIL
The regular monthly meeting of
zhe Council of the Township of Hay
was held at the Town Hall, Zurich,
on Monday May 12th, ;with all mem-
berSpresent. The minutes of the Ap-
ril meeting Were adopted as read.
Atter1 disposing 'of the communic-
ations -the following resolutions were
passed:
That 1'941 Assessment Roll be
received from Assesor by the council
and that Court of Heviison to con-
sider appeals be held at the Town
Hall, Zurich, on Monday, June 9th.
That Wm. F. Jennison be awarded
contract of crushing and trucking
graver fol 1941 at 67 cents per cub-
ic yard, flat, subject to .conditions
provided for under agreement dated
May 12th, 1941.
That Tax Collector return the 1940
Roll as at Mal 12th, 1941, and that
all arrears of taxes remaining un-
paid on May 30.th next be returned
to county treasurer for charge a-
gainst lands ,affected and that Coll-
ector be paid his salary.
That accounts covering payments
on Township Roads, Hay Telephone
and, general accounts be paid -as per
vouchers:

The Council adjurned to meet a-
gain on Monday June 9th at 1.30

SPECIAL MEETING
Mr. and Mrs. Emmerson Gabel of
the Bronson line •;:pent last week vis-
iting with her sisters, Mrs. A. H. Bat-
tler, Mrs. Wm. Eiclt, Burnside and
Mrs. Wilfred Strahrn, Tavistock, and
her brother, Victor Gabel, and fain
ily, and also attended the Conference,
of the Evangelical church at Tavis.

Has 80th Birthday
We join the many friends of Mrs.
Barbara Bechler of Blake, who re-
cently celebrated her 80th birthday
at her home. Many friends and
neighbors dropped in and ,congratu-
lated her. Mrs. Bechler is very
bright and quite active for a lady
of her age, and hopes to enjoy life
for years t5 come.
PLANT MANY TREES
Workmen have completed the plant-
ing- of 6.000 trees at •Seaforth' Golf
and Country Club. The planting fur-
thers the :reforestation program com-
menced at the club three years ago.
To date more than 18,000 trees have
been planted on waste land at the
rear of the property.
BIG CELEBRATION PLANED
Hensall War Time Committee has
planed a gala celebration on the ev-
ening of Friday, May 23rd, which
will include a .military display and
+•colic. Arrangements are being made
to ,bring a military band and a unit
from London and the program is be-
ing hnilt around this feature. Danc-
ing will continue 'throughout the ev-
ening, and games and !booths of ev-
ery description will he in operation.
The event is' being planned to pro-
vide funds for the war activities • of
the Hensall Committee.
At a special rneeting of the Coun-
cil of Hay Township held since the
May regular meeting the following
business was transacted: A 20 -ft.
strip of land has been purchased ad
joining; the Kellerman block in Dash-
wood from Mr. Peter Kraft and the
contract of erecting a builc:rng for
the Central Office in that vrilage has
been let to T. Klumpp, office to be
completed by July 1st next. Mr.
Wm. H. Haugh was appointed insp-
ector in charge of building operati-
ons. Mr. Thos. Laing was appointee]
inspector of following municipal
drains— Aldworth Drain, Eacrett
Drain, McDonald .Drain, and Wild-
fong Drain and was instructed to
make a report on the condition of
,.,McDonald Drain at next regular Co-
uncil 'meeting.
