The auction sale of the effects of
the estate of the late H. F. Weseloh
on Saturday. brought out a Large
number of people, and the auct-
ioneer, Mr. A. Weber had his hands
full all afternoon to dispose of the
multitudes of carpenter tools, and
(Wier equipment that Mr. Weseloh
had accumulated during his lifetime
as a carpenter and woodworker. The
entire set of tools, also the many]
kinds of choi✓•e lumber he had stored,
ilk were all in most wonderful con-
ition, and he took not only a pride

GRAVEL. CONTRACT LET
The contract has been let For the
placing of ten thousand tons efgravel
on the provincial highways from Rus-
seldale to the Bluelater .,ighway;
from No. 4 highway to Zurieh and On
the highway from Mitchell to Elgin -
field. With the .beak -up in the spring
the highways were in bad condition
and in different places impassable.
The contract for hauling the gravel
has been let to Sandy and Salkeld, of
Goderich, at 87e a ton. If the above
quantity is not sufficient arrange-
ments have been made for an ad-
ditional 5,000 tons.
THEATRE TAX IN FORCE
Starting on Monday May 19•th,the
public will have • to shell out extra
nickles and dimes for movie enter-
tainment, as the twenty per cent. tax
'mposed on motion theatres by t he
..:cent budget, went into effect. This
extra, revenue goes to aid war. In
1939 Canadian paid more than $34,-
000,000 at movie box offices and in
1940 while .figures are not available
this sum -will be exceeded. Hon. Mr,
Ilsley expects that this tax will raise
about $8,000,000 to be used to sub-
due the cause of Hitlerisin,

Hay, has purchased the flee dwelling
property from the Misses Johnson -of
town, while the Misses Johnson have
purchased .a home in Kitchener and
will be moving there in the near fut-
ure. We will regret losing the mem-
bers of the Johnson family as citiz-
ens of Zurich as they have been
prominent citizens of the village al-
most since its origin. Mr. Rader is
getting a nicely located property and
in due time will likely make impro-
vements to suit his own desires.
