Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Elsie of De-
troit, the former who is convalesc-
ing, are spending a few weeks at
their home in Dashwood, called in
oler office, on Tuesday, Mr. Elsie
recently underwent a quite serious
operation in the Ford Hospital, De-
troit, early in April, and we. are
pleased to state is progressing very
favorably.

Seaforth—A total of $103 was
realized from the raffle of a pair of
blankets and ;drawn for at a euchre
and dance in 'Winthrop Hall in aid
of the British War 'Victim's- Fund.
Mrs. 'Main Kerr won the blanket;
$133 was forwarded to the fund as
a result of the evening's effort.
Boat Launched
A goodly numberof spectators
were present at the launching of the
new motor boat built by Messrs.
Gordon and Stanley Smith, sons of
111r. and Mrs. C. O. Smith half raile
south of St. Joseph. These two boys

deserve great credit in building so

ted a chorus of 40 men which sang
a goodly number of southern songs
suitably ;arranged. The soloists were
T. J. Sherritt, Dr, Smillie, Carey
Soynt and Sam Rennie; members of
the quartette were Rev. 'Weir, W. A.
MacLaren, R. Y. MacLaren and Jas.
Benvough. The end men were R. +
E. Middleton, George - Hess, Walter
Spencer, Claude Dimes, Jim Par-
kins, Ted 'Oliver, T. J. Sherritt and
Manley Jinks : The program carri-
ed with it a very patriotic. trend and
the grand finale was "There'll Al-

at the Evangelical church parson-
age, Dashwood, on April 12th when
Rev. Roppel united in marriage Es-
ther, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs
Den Price, of 'Dashwood, to El-
more Qackstetter, youngest son or
Mr John Gackstetter of Dashwood
and the late:Mrs. Gaekstettee. The
bride looked charming • in a floor-
length:gown of white satin, long

with orange blossoms. Miss Dorothy
Pie, of ,Dashwood, sister of the
