BAYFIELD
Late Mrs, John Tippett
Mrs. Isabella Tippett, widow of
John Tippett, died on Thursday at
her home in her 88th year, following
a long illness. She was an old resi-
dent here where her husband had
conducted a shoe and harness busin-
*se. Formerly Miss Isabella Higginz;,
was born in Tuckersmith Township,
and in 1878 was married and for a
few years they lived in Varna,thcn
moved to Bayfield, her husband died
in 19.37. She was an active member
of the Anglican church. Surviving
are two daughters; one son, a sister
and a brother, William Higgins of
Bayfield. The funeral was meld on
Sunday with interment in Bayfield
cemetery.

Muttrie will be sorry to learn he is
a patient in London Hospital.
Miss Helen Love spent a few days
last week with grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Fairbairn of Hen-

Mr. John Gackstetter and Mr.
Edward Gackstetter of Zurich arid
Mr. Arnold Gackstetter of Guelph,
visited on Sunday at the home of

Dies at Exeter,. 86.
Funeral services were held on Sat-
urday at Exeter for Samuel% Pressat-
or, who died at Ms residence on Wed
nesday in his 8,5th year. Besides his
widow he is survived by two daugh-
ters and three sons, also two sisters
survive.

The quota for Exeter was set at
.$1,000 for the War Services Fund.
The .town went away over the top in
a Teal lively campaign that reflects
credit on all the workeee and .sub-
scribers. To date the total ,amount
subscribed amounts to $1,713.40. Of
this amount $1,629.;40 was in cash
and $84 in deferred payments. The
total number of subscribers was 442.

Appointed Chaplain
Rev. J. C. Falcon:bridge, of Cen-
tralia, ist Lieut. with the Middlesex -
Huron Regiment, has been .appointed
Chaplain to the Dufferin-Haldimand
Rifles, with the honorary commission
of Captain. He will be stationed at
Niagara -on -the -Lake.

New Locker Systen,
Mr. Martin Laub of town is busy
these days in building his Locker Re-
frigerator, which is near completion.
It will be of 200 locker capacity and
is expected to be finished and ready
for operation about May 1st. More
definite announcements will be made
later on.
Miss Zeta Nadiger, R.N. who has
been in St. Petersburg, Florida, for
the winter, has returned home, and
will spend a few weeks with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Nad-
iger who have been in 'poor health
for some time.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Humble of
Sarnia spit the week -end with Mr.
aand Mrs. R. Gates.
Miss Ella Zimmer of Detroit spent
a week visiting with her father, Mr.
Wm. Zimmer.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Morenz and
family of Detroit spent the week -end
with Mr. and Mrs. M. Watts.
Miss Gertrude Hoffman .spent a
few days with her sister in Kitchener

Major Eugene Tiernan and Mrs
Tiernan and babe of Ottawa, visited
with his mother, Mrs. Mary Tiernan
last week.
The dance sponsored by Mr. A
Tieman in the Commercial note' last
week was well attended.

Hensall Couacil Minutes
The regular meeting of the Vill-
age Councile'evas held on April 7,at
8 p.m. in the Council Chamber with
all members present. Minutes of the
previous meeting were real.' and ad-
opted.
• Fire Chief, G. R. Hess appeared
re Fire Department affairs. Council-
lor Cameron and G-. R. Hess were in-
structed to look after securing a tra-
iler for mounting_the chemical canks.
Motion, that we purchase and in-
stall a Federal No. •2 Siren, 2 h.p.,

Word was received here that Thos,
Cooper, Hiblle Twp., who left for •
ioverseas in March with a Canadian
regime.-nt, was killed in a shelter in.
a 'recent air raid in England. He re.-

didered one of the most brilliant
students there. He finished his edu-
cation in Toronto.

Tict native, passed away in Saskat—
