While it is true that the majority
of Canadian wildfowl and feathered

YARD AT REAR
There is a growing movement
today to place garage, kitchen and
service facilities at the front
of
the house and to move living quar-
ters to the rear. Houses are being
moved forward on the lot, allowing
greater use of the yard as addi-
tional living space. The uniform
building line is being eliminated,
and houses are being placed so
.that each home will be separated
as widely as possible from the
neighboring dwellings.
Improvements in the design of
so-called "modern" houses, new
materials, and new methods of
building are helping to broaden the
acceptance of modern styles of ar-
chitecture.

Many people wonder why the
date of Easter should chane year
by year, while Christmas is a fix-
ed
ixed holiday. The reason• is that the
Crucifixion took place at the time
of the Jewish Passover, which, due
to peculiarities of the Jewish cal-
endar, is a moveable feast. The
Christian Church therefore decided
that the Easter festival should co-
incide with the Jewish Passover.

FIXED BY THE MOON
,The Method of fixing Easter is
cmplicated, and would take too
long to explain here. Easter Day
is the first Sunday after the full
moon which happens either upon
or next after the spring equinox.
if the fuli•nioon'happens on a Sun-
day, Easter Day is the Sunday
after. Owing to the imperfections
of our calendar, the spring equinox
for fixing Easter is, curiously, a
calculated date, and not the actual
spring equinox.
