O'Brien has been confined to the
house the past few days, but expect
him out again soon.
Fin weather is prevailing and it
looks as though old man winter has
his back pretty well broken. Satur-
day witnessed a storm but it died a-
way towards evening.
Mr.. Edgar Geiger and children of
Pieeon, Mich., motored over on
Saturday spending the week -end at
the homes of Mr. and Mrs. A. IVlelick
and Mr. and Mrs. Clare Melick.
Mrs. Wm. T. Tru.emner of the 14th

from F. C. Kalbfleisch and Son and
which is now oecunied by Mr. and
Mrs. Millett, and Mr. and Ma -s. Law-
rence Bedard.. Possession will be
given by April 1st.
The members of the Evangelical
church choir -enjoyed an skating party
last Wednesday evening on the Bab-
ylon line, wher e much fun and eh-
joym,int was in evidence. After the
skating the happy party were enter-
tained at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

Belgian's shortage of food and
medical supplies is in many respects
greater than it was after the 1914
German occupation, members ..of the
Hoover inquiry said. Wheat, canned
foods and espeetcally milk, meat, oil,
iodine, cod Iiver oil and clotningare
lacking.
MARYHILL IS NEW NAME -
..What was formerly known as New
Germany, is now the village of Mary-
hill. The announcement was made on
Stnday last by Rev. Father Joseph
Diemert from the pulpit of St. Bon-
iface Church in that village, following
a vote by the residents. Rev. Father
Diemert stated that the villagers ob-
jected to the former name on the
grounds that it was not suitable for
a loyal Canadian community.—Mild-

DIES AT GODERICH
E. R. Wigle, for six years mayor of
Goderich and Conservative nxember of
the Legislature from 1923 to 19°26
I for Centre Huron, died Saturday in
ILondon Hospital, -age 62 years. He
had been an active figure in municip-
al and political life of Huron County
.3orn at Wiarton, he graduated from
the Ontario College of Pharmacy„ in
1908 he went to Goderich where he
set up a drug business which he op-
:•rated until his death. Surviving are
his wife, three. ;ons and a brother.
n.'he funeral was held Tuesday from
St. George's Anglican church to the
.daitland 'Cemetery.
KNOCKS DOWN LANTERN
Hensall—The large bank barn of
the Duncan Stewart farm, two miles
southetst of Hensall, was burned to
the ground during the night on Mon-
day including 100 hens and 15 pigs,
but with the assistance of neighbors

M. •Coe tello recently William Stirling,
Goderich Township farm, was award-
ed $186.80 and costs on his counter-
claim against Gordon Cudnore, ap-
iarist, also of Goderich Twp., the
plantifF in the action. Mr. Cncl,nore's
claim which was for nearly $800,was
dismissed. The action arose out of a
atotnr rec.ide:nt on An •il 29 last, on
the road between Clinton and I3ay-
field, when the Cudmore and Stirling
ears were in collision opposite a far-
mer's laneway, toward which plaintiff -
was turning to a mail box when Stir-
ling attempted to pass. ,
