PLANE CRASHES Twelve persons died in the dark of early morning, Feb. 6, when a large Trans -Canada Air Lines passenger plane plunged to earth near Arm- strong, a small town. in Northwestern Ontario, 391 miles east of Winnipeg, The death list of •the worst accident in Canada's aviation 'history contain- ed the names of three crew members and nine passengers. At a recent jack rabbit drive held by local sportsmen, a total of over 50 jacks were bagged. Seemingly, the days of the big catches when there used to be over the 100 shot, is about over for the present. Jaeks are not near as plentiful as in years gone by Mr. and Mrs. Harry G. Hess enter- tained for ,dinner the Sunday School class of young boys of the •Evangel- ical church which their son Gordon is a member and which Mr. Lee 0' Brien is the teacher, one evening last week. Rev. C. B. Heckendosn being also present. The evening was enjoy- ed in a very social manner and the delicious dinner was a big contribut- ion, it being a real treat for all. Brotherhood Met Monday evning the Lutheran Bro- therhood Men entertained the ladies to a very enjoyable social in the church basement. The social commit- tee, Geo. Hess, Herb Krueger, Alpert Hess, Ferd Haberer aerangen a fine program consisting of progressive Bunco; accordeon solos by Henry Atkins, vocal and harmonica select- ions by the social committee, violin selections by Peter Deichert, Hy. Gag - stetter and Mrs. Herb Krueger, Len- ora Turkheim favored a piano solo. Mrs. Albert Hess, Mrs. Herb Krueger Mrs. Fend Haberer prepared a deli- ghtful lunch which - was most heartily enjoyed by all. Had Social Evening Mr. and Mrs. W. H. During the ev- ening a lunch of eleven courses was served which for sumptuousness and tastiness was unique in the experience of the guests, who were at a loss to find adequate words to express tneir appreciation for it all. HYMENEAL Weigand—Fee A quiet wedding was solemnized at Centennial United Church, Lon- don, on February 1st, when Rev. Dr. Richards united in marriage Nellie Elizabeth, daughter of Mr. George Fee, Hensall, and Louis Weigand. son of Mr. and Mrs. Hy. Weigand, Dashwood. The bride chose a blue crepe dress with matching accessor- ies and wore a corsage of rose land maidenhair fern. Mrs. Edwara b a'il of London, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Miss Coultis, who has been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kellerman returned to her home in Wingham. Miss 'Coultiss delighted the audience in the Evangelical church with a solo on Sunday evening which was en- joyed. Mrs. Norman Evans and family of Kitci ner spent the week -end with her parents, owing to the condition of her grandmother, Mrs. Stacy who has -been confined to her bed for the part month.
