A MILK -FED ARMY
Ottawa—Canada need not worry
about the sobriety of her young men
under arms. Even hardboiled serg-
eant -majors have to admit it they
are, on the whole, a temperate lot.
The day has passed, it would seem,

army saying that "a man's not a
inan unless he throws his daily ration
of rum down the hatch." The lads
are drinking milk, and in tremend-

without too many frills. A thick, juicy
steak, rare and with plenty of onions
that's what they like best he says.
But he shook his head over the speed
with which the nation's legistiators
tuck away their food. They want their
service fast. Then they eat fast and
according to the chef they think while
they eat. Reopening of Parliament
meant the ordering of hundreds of
pounds of meat and vegetables, and
hundreds of loave4 of bread for the
big kitchens on the sixth floor of
Centre Block of the Parliament Pu -
