Tuerkheim, A.T.C.f17. in the basement of St. Peter's Lutheran church, Zurich on Wednesday evening last, October 80, was a decided success. The basement was decorated with,•a few touches of Hallowe'en. Mand parents as well as other visitors were present to hear these young musicians play the piano, - also several numbers• in sun;; were rendered. .Much credit goes to their teacher and instructor for the excell- ent training given to the scholars of music; how to handle the key board of a piano; every one doing their part very nobly. Mrs. Tuerkheim also favoured the audience with a piano solo, "Valse BrilIante" Chopin Op. 34 No. 1. This was played in her very able manner. Mrs. Tuerkheim also thanked the audience for their presence and interest. This is indeed a great privilege to attend these re- citals both for the pupils who take part as well as the spectators. There passed away early on Wed- nesday morning, October 80th an old and highly respected old lady in the person of Mrs. Mary Schwalm in her 90th year. Mrs. Schwahn was found dead in her room at the hone of Mr and Mrs, Peter Koehler her brother', with whom she had been staying for aeve•r&l years. She was a resident of the community all her life, living on the Schwahn homestead, Blind Line, :incl then in Zurich where her hush - end, the Late 'W,illiam Schwalm pre- deceased many yeara ago. ldrs. Schwalm was of a very quiet dispo- sition, very deeply interested in the home, 'wasa. great mother to hey family, and until recent years was a regular ,gular attendant at divine wor- ship at the Evangelical' church. Death of Miss Annie Keys An old and highly esteemed maid - mit of Varna, in the person of Miss! Anna Jane Keys, passed away, on Oet. u:3xcl at the home of her broth- :er-in-law and sister, Mr. and M.r:.. S. C.. Rathwetl, Lucknow, with whom she had,been making her home. The late Miss Keys, who was 81 years of age, had been ailing for some time. She was the eldest daughter of the late Thos. XXeye and was born on the Babylon line, the family later moving to the l'ai'r Line and then to Verne. where tlw late Miss Keys was a dress maker for many years.
