..The wedding was solemnized at
Central Baptist Church, London with
Rev. James McGinley officiating, of
Norma Jenison, daughter of Mr,
William Jenison of the Blue Water
Highway, to Troy Desjardine, sonof
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Desjardine, al-
so of the Blue Water Highway. The
bride wore a charming pink net fiuor
length gown with a corsage of ]pink
roses and blue forget-me-nots. The
bridesmaid, Miss M. Stuibbins, of
Grand Bend, wore salmon seeded lace
with corsag cf pink and white roses.
The groomsman was Arnold Gaiser,
of the Blue Water Highway. The
bride wore for travelling a blue serol
dress. They will reside with the
groom's parents. where they are re-
ceiving congratulation; of their many
friends.

A pretty autumn wedding was sol-
ernnized at the United manse, Bay-
field, when Bertha Mae, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hohner, \Tainan,
was united in marriage t o Harvey
W., son of Mr. William Taylor of
Varna, Rev. H. Currie, pastor of
St. Andrew's United church officiat-
ed. Mies Willa Jervis, Clinton, was
bridesmaid, wearing a dress of black
satin with snatching accessories. Robt
D. Taylor, Varna brother of the
groom was best man and Murray
Rohner, brother of the bride was
also an attendant. After the cere-
mony the wedding party returned to
the home of the bride's parents whe-
re a wedding dinner was served. The
bride's table was centred with the
wedding cake was decorated with
autumn flowers. The !bridegroom's
gift to the bridesmaid was a corn-
uact and to the best man a billfold.
Mr. and Mrs. Taylor left on a motor
trip to Detroit, the bride travelling
in a navy blue dress, with. accessor-
ies to snatch. They will reside on the
bridegroom's farm, Varna,

Subscriptions to Canada's second
war loan reached $342,248,300 aga-
inst a $300,000 objective Yvhen books
closed Saturday the Bank of Canada
announced. This $42,248,300 over -
:subscription to the loan -paying three
per cent and due Oct. 1, 1942 -;meant
that orders from large institutions
and corporations must be reduced in
order that subscriptions from private
investors be confirmed .in full.

NEW PRESIDENT
G. L. Parsons, of Godeeich, was
elected president of the Blue Water
Highway Association at the annual
convention at Meaford on Friday, at-
tended by more than 50 delegates.He
succeeds Col. C. S. Woodrow, of
Sarnia, who retired after 20 years in
that capacity and was named honor-
ary -president. All towns ante cities a-
long the Blue Water Highway route
were represented at the meeting and 1
delegates also enjoyed a banquet and 1
a fishing trip. G. Case, or. Owen
Sound, was elected first vice-pres.,
with Bruce Boysenberry, of Grand
Bend, second vice.
S'UC'CESSFUL SCHOOL FAIR
The annual Hensall paiblic school
fair on Sept. 17th marked success,
hundreds being in attendance. There
were splendid entries of grain, fruits,
vegetables, flowers and live stock
from Hensall and school sections in
Hay, Tuckersmith, Us orr,4. nxer.cis-
es were held on the school grounds
and W. R. Moulding, of Exeter, dir-
ected a musical period for the Hen-
sall public school. The cone -'.t in con-
junction with the fair will be held in
the town hall, :-lens all, next Thursday
evening, when prizes will be given
for public speaking, spelling, music,
etc. Judges for the fair were: j'. G.
Srearer, agricultural representative
for Huron, and Robert McKercher,of
Seaforth.

A quiet wedding was -solemnized on
Sept. 7th in the Student Presbyterian
College, Madison, Wisconsin, when
Mies Sabina C. Marczewski, M. A..
daughter of Mr, and Mrs, J. Marczew-
ski of New York City became the
bride of Dr. Randall H, Cole, eldest
son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Cole of God-
erich Township and a recent principal.
ofZurich school. Rev. C. W. Lowr offi-
ciated. After which the couple left
on a trip through the state of Wis--
consin. Dr, and Mrs, Cole will make
their home in London, Ont., where
Dr. Cole is instructor in Mathematics
at the University of Western Ontario,
Dr, Cole was a student at Clinton
Collegiate and received his B. A. at
Western and his M.A. and P.H,D.,
at Madison, Wis.
TALL BROOM CORN
Mr. A, E. Buswell, field represent-
ative for broomcorn, which is being
grown for the first time in this local-
ity, has brought to the Times-Advo-1
nate several samples which are now
on display. The tallest of the several
stocks measures 11 feet 5 inches' and
the top of the corn which is the only
part inarketable measures 27 inches.
The stock is much like a bamboo pole
and nature has provided in a won- 1
deeful way for supporting the tall
