Mr. and Mrs. Alfred E. Moritz of
Guelph were Tuesday visitors at the

s a good many years since Mr. Mor-
tz attended Zurich Fair, and as a
consequence with, no fair, the disap-
poiinnten:E was all the greater.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hohner of
Varna announce the engagement of
their daughter, Bertha Mae, to Har-
vey William Taylor, son of Mr. Wm.
Taylor and the late Mrs. Taylor of
Varna. The marriage will take place
in the near future.
Owing to the Fair being cancelled
the local Red Cross did not have
their booth at the fair and will hold
their Bingo entertainment in the Zur
ich Town Hall on Saturday evening,
Sept 2,8th. Good. prizes will •be given
and the proceeds will be used for
iced Cross work. Everybody is in-
vited.,

The Stephen Township clark's
office was one of the busiest places
in Crediton during the past week
when rifles, shotguns and other guns
and guns were brought in for regis-
tration. Over 700 have been register-
ed. The time having been extended
until the end of Sept., when after
that date those who fail to register
will be liable to a 'fine.
The Clinton Public School _Hoard
has engaged Miss Evelyn Hall, a Un-
iversity of Toronto graduate, to fill
the place vacated by Mr. Melvin Sny-
der. of the teaching staff, who has
enlisted in the Royal. Canadian Air
!'orce. Miss Hall had charge of the
Bronson line school, '.Hay Twp., part
of a year, some time ago.
