Mrs. Peter Koehler received the sad news from New Haven that her sis- ter, Mrs. Richard Moore had passed on. The late Mrs. Moore was a fre- quent visitor in these parts, and a former girl, being raised in this com- munity, her maiden name 'being Spathe and she was also a sister to the late I 'Mrs. Ed. Bosseniberry. WANTS SCHOOL OPENED Members of the Hensel]. Board of Education are in favor ofscnools re- opening as usual, although they think it is a splendid gesture on the part of the Ontario Government to try and help the farmers by extending the hol;riny season. . 'MEETING AT HENSALL A meeting was held in the town Hall, Hensall last Friday evening, at - n. tended by all the deputy registrars for Huron -Perth riding. W. L. Whyte, chairman of the voluntary registrat- ion committee, occupied the c'nair and outlined the work the committee had done. The meeting adjourned with the request from the chairman to meet again in Hensel! this Friday evening when final instructions will be given. About 17.5 deputy registrars were in attendance. PUT UNDER BAN Ottawa—Jehovah's witnesses was declared an illegal organization in an order -in -council tabled in the House of Commons by Justice Minister La ; pointe. The Witnesses are a religious group which distribute treacts .and carries on an active miss:onary cam- paign in other ways. Section 390 of the Defence of Canada Regulations was approved about a month ago,'1 when a number of German and other organizations were declared illegal. Tt authorizes acklitions to the list by' order -in -council. A person who •i'' - mains or becomes a member or offi- cer of an illegal organization after it; is declared i'.1egal or who professes to follow or defend its acts, principles, or program is guilty of an offense. THE FARM HELP PROBLEM Every boy and girl of school acts in Ontario will be given an oppor- tunity to play part in Canada's war effort, Prime Minister M. F. Hep- burn revealed at Queen's Park. The Ontario •Government's plans in this direction entail setting up a "Soldi- ers of the Soil" committee in each county, and once this preliminary organization is completed, mustering the full strength of this :Province's yore g people et useful t•.,sks ire t he furtherance of war activities.. Prim- ary schools will be closed until Sept. 16th, and secondary schools until. Oct. 2nd. This will make available to the farmers of Ontario a vast re- serviour of farm help.
