The fine wheat fields one sees driv-
ing through the country is really a
(beautiful sight to behold, and before
the week is out, with the continued
hot "weather, we would suggest that
some fields will be out.

DIES AT CLINTON
David Cantelon, veteran produce
andliv'e stock dealer, died suddenly
At Clinton. on. Thursday last whie sup-
ervising the "oadling of hogs at the
C.N.R. stock yards, death following
a heart attack. Mr..Ca.ntelon. who was
known at Western Ontario's "Apple
King"' in years gone by, was hi his
93rd year and probably the oldest
nock dealer in active service in Can-
ada. ,Formerly an extensive dealer
and exporter of apples, a member of
a pioneer family of Croderich Twp.
His wife died 12 years ago. He was
a staunch conservative and a member
of the United Church, formerly Me-
thodist, Surviving are a son and two
i daughters. The funeral was largely
atended on Sunday afternoon.

HAD HEAVY DAMAGES
Loss to crops of many thousands
•of -dollars was caused by a hailstorm
that swept suddenly across the Clin-
ton district on Sunday afternoon
June 30th. In a terrific boir»bardrnent
hailstones ranging in size from half
to three-quarters of an inchin dia-.
meter cut leaves in showers from
trees, levelled hay and wheat and'
cut to ribbons suohe crops as corn
potatoes, tomatoes and other ga.r-
den truck. In some pi'aces hailstones
covered fields to a depth of four•in-.
ches. The storm stated northwest'of'
Clinton and devasted an area several
miles to the southeast of the to ,vn. It
was the most d-estw-active storm liethe
memory of old reesidents.

were a lovely locket, the gift of the

the bridal party drove to Weslley

nicely decorated with flowers. The
bride's table was "centred with a S-
tier wedding cake decorated with
Sweetheart roses and flanked on eith-
er side with roses in silver b'ow's.
Following the :toast to the bride, Miss
Hedbernnehl of Preston sang "Oh
Perfect Love," Later Mr. and Mrs.
M'cGillawee lett for a short trip. For
travelling the bride wore navy sheer
with white accessories.
