Held a Reunion
The second annual Desjardine re-
union was held at Grand Bend with
members of the family present from
Saskatoon, London, Dashwood, Zur-
ich and Grand Bend. The afternoon
was spent in sports,
IS IMPROVING
The condition of Alex. Dieterich,
26, of Dashwood, who is in St. Jos-
eph's Hospital, London, with injuries
received in a car crash south of his
home Thursday last was reported as
showing some improvement. Be suf-
fered shdck, possible back injury and
shoulder injury and became so weak
that a blood transfusion was given

HAY COUNCIL
The regwlar nioaithly meeting of
the Council of the Township of Hay
was ehld -in the Town Hall, Zurich,
on .1fonday evening, July 8th with all
members present. Minutes of June
meeting were .adopted as react. After
disposing of the connnunications the
folowing resolutions were passed:

eting Monday evening.
Mr. Irvin D. Smith of Hamilton,
callled on his father, Mr. D. Smith and
brothers, Wednesday.
:Miss Dorothy Corless of Clinton,
has taken a position with Dr. and
Mrs. Addison of town.
1VIrs. Wm. F. Braun and family of
Forest were visiting with relatives
here the past week.
Miss Myrtle Geiser of Dashwood,
was a week -end visitor with her fri-
end Miss Belva Truenmer, 14th con.
Miss Rnby Schrag of near Preston
spent a few clays at the home of her
sister, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Peachey.
Mrs. C. Ralbileisch has returned to
her home in Marine City, Mich., after
enjoying three weeks visit with her
sister, Mr. and Mrs. R. F. Stade of
Zurich.
Mr. and Mrs. John M. Turkheim,
bridal couple, retained from their
honeymoon trip on Thursday last,
and are receiving fie congratulations
of their many friends.
Dr. and Mrs. P. J. O'Dwyer and
family are spendin; two weeks holi-
days at Wilberforce, Qnt. They ex-
pect to return home over the coming
1,veek-end, we understand.
Mr. and Mrs. George Brenner of
Midland, Mich., „spent -a few .days.vis,..
iting relatives here. They were ac-
companied by Mrs. Louis Schilbe of
Zurich on a Motor trip to North Da-
kota, and other points. They report
a very interesting trip.
The remodelling of Mr, arta mrs.
Eicionoier's home on the easterly
per of town is well under way. Mr.
and Mrs. Eickmeier have 3,Tovect their
effects t othe farm of Mr. 0. Geiger,
while the house is being remodelled.
OBITUARY
. Late John Galin -Ian
John Gellman, son of John and
Katie Zeller Gellman, was born July
20, 1849, at Preston, Ontalio, and
departed this life July 1st, 1940 at
the home of his daughter, Mrs. Dan.
Herford, Elkton, Mich., at the age of
90 years, 11 months and 10 days.
On July 28th.' 1874 he was united in
marriage to Margaret Kaerener of
Zurich, Ontario. To this union seven
children were born, 4 daughters, and
3 sons, When 5 years of age Mr.
Gellman moved from Preston to Zur-
ich with his parents. Following his
marriage in 1874 he purchased the
finefarm on the 14th eon., Hay now
owned and occupied by Mr, Blake
Horner, where he resided for 35 years
then retiring from farming and mov-
ed to Zurich where he residea until 6
years ago, Since then making his
home with his. two daughters, Mrs.
Dan Herford and Mrs. L. S. Scheifele
Surviving' to mourn their loss are his
widow, 3 daughters, Mrs. Isiah Wit -
more of Dashwood; Mrs. Dan Her-
ford of Elkton, Mich; Mrs. L. S.
Scheifele of Blissfield, Mich, and 2
sons, Henry Gellman of Roodho-use,
Ill., and Joseph Gellman of Chicago,
DI; 26 grand children and 37 great
grandchildren. A -daughter, Mrs.
Louisa Gascho, and a son Alfred Gell-
man, also one grand child, Raymond
Gascho predeceased him in death.
Mr. Galknan was the last member of
his family of six. He was graciously
converted about 55 years ago and
became a member of the Evangelical
Church soon after. Serving his Christ
in holding various officer and aa. a
Sunday School teacher. For many
years he would read the Bible through
each year. He loved his Chest and
his church. He was a devout C'bris-
tiatt, and in recent months looked
forward to the time when his • Pit-
grimage here would end. Quietly
came his eternal rest on Monday af-
ternoon, July ist at the home of bis
daughter MTs. Dan. Herford where
he had been cared for during his
last illness,
