..Mr. Sidney .Brown, who has been
teacher at Benmiller for the last five
years, has been engaged as principal
of the Continuation School ,at Cred-
iton, filling the vacancy created by
the death of Mr. Scherbarth, the.
former principal, who was a victim
of 'poliomyelitis. The Crediton school
n"(1 cherches were closed for about
w.o eveeks after Mr. Scherberth's
death, but as no new cases developed
they were allowed to open iast

The friends, neighbors, and the "I
Serve" Sunday school class, of which
Miss Olive Witmer is e member,
Wired at the home of her parents,
Mr. and Mss. S. Witmer of the Baby-
lon Line •oor'Thursday eve. Oct. 27th
and presented Olive (bride elect)
with a miscellaneous shower. The
first part of the evening was spent in
the playing of Chinese checkers. Then
Betty Etue and Billie Mercer, rep-
resenting the bride and groom, putted
in a wagon laden • with a beautifully
decorated basket, heaped w,'th gifts,
damning which Donna and Junior Mer
ver sang an appropriate song, acco-
mpanied by Mr. Newell Geiger, play-
ing on the autoharp. Miss Olive took
her place in a large chair trimmed
with white crepe paper. The gifts
were presented during which Mari
Brie Merrier read the address. After
the opening of the many and useful
gifts, Olive thanked her friends for
• the bounteous shower. Later a dainty
lunch was served after which her fri-
ends returned to their homes, wish-
ing Olive best wishes for a happy
married life. The following address
