Old Lady Passes
On January 16th Mrs. Martha Ann
Ferguson, one of the oldest residents
of •Goderieh, died at the home of Mr
and Mrs. Wm. McMichael, Goderich,
with whom she had lived foe mete
months. Mrs. Ferguson was 94 years
of age on Dec. 19111 and was taken
ill soon after her 'birthday, She was
born in Goderich Twp. in 1844, a
daughter of Richard Young and Mar-
tha Woolner, In 1804 she was marri-
ed in Clinton to James Ham::well, the
couple farmed successfully for sever-
al years south of Kincardine and to
them was born five sons e1 which
are Henry, Andrew, John, Thomas,
and George. In 1888 Mr. Harnwell
died and the widow assisted by her
son Thomas worked the farm for
several years and in 1901 went to
Goderich. In 1903 she married Daniel
Ferguson, the marriage being cond-
ucted by Rev. R. A. Miller in the
home of John E. Harnwell, Varna,
who was Clerk of Stanley for some
years. In 1907 Mr. Ferguson died.

ened with various business affairrs.
The president broached the matter of
having a district young people's rally
outlined it and asked the members to
think the matter over by the next bits

parts of the Bible. The contest ended
with the boys winning, the east boy
being ,Carl Wein.
The ,following week the society had-

in contests, Mrs. Edgar Restemeyea.

and the contestants were required to
name the hymn..
This contest brought ninny surpr-
ises and ended with the girls winning.
The last meeting of the monththe
pastor Rev. T. Luft gave a lecture on
Saxon Immigration to the United St-
ates in 1839, and later Missouri Synod
in 1847. How the early pioneers re-
ligious liberty and brought many sac-
rifices for their faith. In this manner
the meetings encourage us to carry
on devotedly.

Amateur Night
An Amateur Night will be held on
February 10th, under the: auspice;
the Young People of Cannel Prete
byterian church. There will be four
classes: Juvenile, 12 yrs. aria maser;
Intermediate 12 to 18 yrs; Senior 19
yrs. and over; Dancing any age. All
entries are taken by Harol,Wt Bon-

A hockey match was payed on the
Hensall rink an Jan. 20, between
Dashwood and Hensall. The score was
10-2 :in favor of Hensall, Kenneth
Passmore was the main scorer for

in his 75th year. The decased had
been a ife-long resident of Hibbert
Twp., residing on his farm on the
boundary. His wife, the late Annie

An Accident
What .night have been a serious
accident occurred on No. 4 Highway

when a car driven .by Andrew Bell,

skidded on the icy pavement., crossed
