IT SHOULDN'T HAPPEN IN 1945
Stabbed by a rabbit. Drowned - on
a rooftop. Conked by a pair of bro-
gans because a clerk wanted exer-
cise Hill the gremlins and pixies who

. VILLAGE NOMINATION
Last Friday eventing the Zurich Pol
ice Village Trustee nomination was
held in the town hall according to
regulations, and- only a handful of
ratpayers were present. Eacri of the
Trustees gave a good report of the
past year's work. Mr. H. G. Hess
going over the water system, after
which Dr. P. J. O'Dwyer, president
of the newly organized Lions Club,
gave an address, stating of what val-
oe to Zurich and -community this or-
ganization wishes to become. There
will be no Trustee election as the fol-
lowing three have signed up: Theo.

PRICES OF, BEEF
Front quarter beef cuts have been
reduced in price about four cents a
pound, according to an announce-
ment by W. H. McPhillips, prices and
supply representative of the WPTB.
or Western Ontario. Retail cot of
hind quarter cuts will be increased
by .about four cents by an adjustm-
ent in price levels. Since the .suspen-
sion of meat rationing, the existing
ceiling prices resulted in an uneven
market of hind acid front quarter
meat. The prices of beef have 'been
adjusted in order to make a better
balance in meat consumption, The
beef charts displayed in all meat
Stores will carry these new prices.
THE NOMINATION
The Hay Township nomination on
Friday afternon passed off very qui-'
e'tly, as there was not the usually
crowded hall full in, evidence, and
things were very quiet. Mr. Arm-
strong, the reeve for the last num-
lier of years, gave a good account
of th0,' County Work, went; the
Councillors went 'over 'tin local Twp.
work. As a result there will how-
ever be an election for reeve on Mon-
day as the two older councilmen, Mr.
Wein. 11. Heu„h and Roland Geiger
who have sat on the council board
for some years both thought it wtv
time to step up or step out. So
there will be an election on Monday,
but as only two councilmen qualified
namely Ervin Willert and Samuel
Hendrick, „their will have to be an-
other ' nomination called bo Mill the
,1Jwe council vacancies, this is to tale
place on Friday, 'January 5th, And
.if an elnctioaa will be necessary • the
same will be on .January 115th.
