TROLAND GEIGER Hensall Council Minutes A Statutory meeting of the Village Council held on the eve. of December 1.5th at 18 o'clock with all members being present except Councillof F. W. Smallacombe. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and ad- opted. R. J. Paterson, Tax Collector, re- ported as having collected $11,776.78 of the 1944 tax roll, leaving a bal- ance of $503.80 outstanding of which considerable will be collected this evening, which is the lowest in years. T. Kyle reported and asked about the Rink stating it in shape if the weather was favourable for making ice, also reported the Poll Taxes as being all 'collected except one. 'Correspondence read. Sun- day evening was a very delightful scene. This was in charge of the ,pastor, Rev. E. Heimrich. The little tats. delighted the large audience with their cherrie faces and with the lov- ely songs and recitations. A. pagent, was rendered entitled "By Prophets Long. Fortold." This was beautifully, given by the intermediate group of the, Sunday School, which reminded everyone present of the Birth of our Christ Child. Mrs. J. Turkheim pre- sided: at the organ. LIONS ORGANIZE Zurich now has a well organized Lionr�•Club, as last Thursday even- ing the district organizers Bruce Malcolm of Toronto and Dalton Higgs of .St. Thomas, accompanied .by' mem- bers' of the Exeter Club were pres- ent for the organization ano soon the, necessary number were present for the organization of the first Lions Club of Zurich. The officials are headed by Dr. P, J. O'Dwyer as their president, and a more complete report as to officers and members will be published later. There will be a lost of work to be done by this society OBITUARY Late Henry Albrecht Henry Albrecht, well known Cav- alier County, North Dakota pioneer and veteran Langdon. elevator man passed away at his •home on Decem- ber' 7th. Though his heath caused hts retirement from his work in 1938 he had been in failing health for the, past year or so and his departure was not unexpected. Henry, was a son of Adam and Elizabeth Albrecht and was born May 31, 1872, at Zur-` ich, Ont. As a young ine.n he cau- ght the spirit of the pioneers moving to Cavalier, N. D. at the age of 16 years. First working on a fare, ,then farming for himself, till by accepted the position as gram buyer, He was married to Lilah Drummond at Lang. cion in 1911.
