Brown, of Clinton; Iowa, who spends the summer at 110lakeside cottage here has closed the same and will .+ be leaving for herhome shortly. The many friends of Mr. Jut; Robinson will be pleased to lead: that he is recovering satisfactorily from an 'apendix operation in a Longe A'i Mr. William Brown has accepted a position at London and has left to resume his duties there. Mr. and Mrs. Edmund ,Swartzen- ;truber, of Blake made a business trip to London on Monday. Mr. Wm. Hay and daughters My- rtle and Ada of London spent the week -end at the family home nere. Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Meyers were Sunday visitors with their daughter, Alpha, who is training at Stratford :General' Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Milfred Schilbe and Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Haberer have re- turned home •after a very pleasant visit with relatives at Buffalo. Mrs. Met. Drysdale of Marlette, Mich., is spending the weinter months at the home of her sister, Miss Jem- ima Johnston of town. Mrs. Gordon Johnston of Thornloe New Ontario, is here visiting friends also attended the funeral •of her father, the late William Finlay. :Mrs. Thos. H. Meyers spent the week -end with her daughter, Miss Alpha, who is recuperating after a tonsil operation in Stratford General Hospital. Toms and J. J. Sturgeon are away to finish the fishing season on Lake Erie. Mrs. J. W. Jowett and household have moved over to her home m the village for the winter months. Mr. William Slack of Stanley Twp. is spending the winter with his nephew, Wtn. Orr and Mrs. Orr in the village. Westlake and Ann, Mrs. Bert Greer and Joyce spent a few days in. Toronto recently. Mrs. J. A. Carnie, who spent the last four months in Lloydminster, Sack., and Mets, W. Carnie, who has been residing in Vancouver and Victoria B.C., for the past two years, return- ed home with them. Hensall Council Minute A Statutory meeting of the Vill- age Council held a meeting on the eve. of Nov, 15th., with all members present. Minutes of the previous nte- etirr„ were read and adopted, The treasurer presented the annual Financial report from November 15, 1943 to Nov. 15, 1944. Motion, that the Treasurer's report be adopted as read and that sufficient copies he prin ted.. The Clerk was instructed to send a letter of condolence to our Auditor Mr. 'J. Waldo Monteith of Stratford wh•r recently lost his mother. Correspondence read as follows: Resident Passes We are called upon to announce the passing of a prominent citizen of Zurich in the person of Mr. Samuel Deitz who passed away on Tuesday morning. The funeral will be held on Thursday at two o'clock at the family residence, Zurich, with inter- ment following in the Bronson Line Evangelical. cemetery. OBITUARY Late William N. Finlay William N. Finlay passed away at the home of his daughter, firs. Gor- don Johnston of Thornloe, New Ont., after a lengthy illness of failing health for a number of years. He farmed in Hay Township on the Town Line near•Blake for 39 ,years and re- tired in 1936. He lived on tree home stead with his son Harold 'and visited part of the time with his daughter Aubert and last spring went to her home where his health grew weaker until his end carne despite medical care and all that loving hands could do was of no avail. I -ie leaves to mourn his loess (Alberta) Mrs. Gor- don Johnston of Thornloe; Edger- ton of Saanichton, B.C.; and Harold of the homestead, also six grandchil- dren. His wife predeceased him in March 1931. Two brothers survive, Rev. W. A. Finlay, London; Albert of Vancouver B.C.; two sisters, Mice and Margaret Finlay of London. The funeral was held from the hone of his son :Harold on Sunday to Blake -United Church for public service, where the pastor, Rev. Reba Hern spoke very fittingly to the sorrowing ones. Interment followed in Bayfeld cemetery, The pail bearers were: Menne and Daniel Steckle, Edmund Oesch, Wm. Clark, Roy McBride and Thomas Dinsmore, The floral tributes were many including a spray from the McCool Institute; Blake Church brothers and sisters and relatives and Mr. Wrn.
