Mrs. Henry Gillman of town met
with a painful accident last Friday
morning, as she went to go down the
outside steps she slipped on the ice,
causing her to fracture left wrist.
Her many friends will be praised to
learn that she is getting along as
well as could be hoped for. .

Treasurer of the 'Canada Conference
Evangelical Youth Fellowship at a
Convention held in Kitchener on Oct.
27th and 28th. Others attending
were Misses Kathleen Hay, Ruby
Church, Nola Krueger, Helen O'Brien
Pearl Gabel, Ethel Gabel and Rev.
C B. Heckendorn. The guest speak-
er was Dean A. Kurth of North Cen-
tial° College, Naperville, Ill. Both
Rev. Heckendorn and Ralph Krueger
participated in the program.

At a joint meeting of the Council,
Red Cross and War Services held in
the Varna Hall, a committee was
appointed to be responsible for the
welcome to be given our boys as
each one returns from Overseas. The
members of the •community represent
the different organizations in the
Township. The Council is represented
by Warden Fred Watson, who is aim
so the chairman; Red Cross, Mrs. G.
Reid; War Services, Miss Edythe
Beatty; Legion, Mr. Jack Smith; Or-
ange Lodge, Mr. Anson Coleman.

DIES OF WOUNDS
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Taylor, of
Hensall, have received w dfrom
Ottawa that their son, Cpl: Sydney
Taylor, had died of wounds received
in action in Belgium, Oct. 14th. Born
in Hensall and educated here, he en-
listed in London at the beginning of
the war, being overseas four years.
Surviving are his parents, three sis-
ters and four brothers.

HELD SUCCESSFUL FROLIC
The frolic held in the community
shed, Hensall, Wednesday evening,
Oct. 25th, sponsored by Hensall and
Zurich War Services Association, was
very successful. Centralia Pipe Band
played several stirring selections,and
bingo and games of chance were fea-
tured. Mr. Geo. Jefferson, of Clinton
spoke on behalf of the 7th Victory
Loan. Mr. Jefferson was introduced
by Dr. A. R. ,Campbell, or Hensall,
president of the War Service Com-
mittee. Dr. Campbell announced the
winners of the ,prizes as follows: let
prize, $50, Robert McKenzie, ;.iensall
2nd prize $25, H. Schilbe, Dashwood;
3rd prize Bruce Klopp, Zurich;
prize Walter Eckel, Zurich; 5th prize
Robert McKenzie Rensall; 6th prize
A. Corby, Seaforth. The Women's In-
stitutes of Hensall and. Zurich con-
ducted a booth and did a rushingbus-
iness. Murdock's orchestra furnished
the music for the dance held in the
Town Hall. Stan Tudor was convener
of the affair.
STANLEY TOWNSHIP
Word has .just been received that
Douglas Robinson, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert E. Robinson, who is a
patient in Vittoria Hospital, London,
with the dreaded polio disease, is as
good as could be hoped for, and his
doctor, has encouraging reports for
his speedy and •permanent recovery.
The Stanley Salvage Committee
