Jack O'Brien, who rs in the Armed Forces, London, enjoyed a week -end at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lennis O'Brien. Miss Mae Smith, accompanied by Miss La Verne Astles of London, were week -end visitors at the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs C. L. Smith. Ration books were issued In the local town hall .on Friday and Satur- day afternoon. and evening, and the usual amount of books were turned out. ;Pte: Edward and Mrs. Brenner and baby; Mr. and Mrs. L. Cook and daughter Patricia of Kitchener, vis- ited at the home of the former's par- ents for a few days last week. The ideal fine weather is very much enjoyed by all, especially the •farm- ers who still have considerable work to do. A few more weeks of this and it will greatly shorten the' win- ter season. Mr. Wm. Decker, president of the Zurich Agricultural 'Society and who is well known 'in the field of good horses has beeii called at various fall fans 'to. Marty, and' the late Dr. K. Marty, `of New Hamburg, the marriage to take place quietly the latter part of October. The Zurich Women's lnstittite packed twenty-seven boxes for our boys overseas on Monday evening under the leadership of Mrs. Thos. Meyers. The boxes were packed with very good dainties from their home town, which we hope they will all redeive to enjoy. Many thanks to Mr. Wm. Siebert and Meyers for their help in wrappirz the boxes and giving of their help wherever it was needed. FLYING AT EIGHTY -r LVE Mrs. Mary Ann McDougall left God- erich on. Sept. 26th for Toronto, and from there took passage by ariplane for Boissie, Idahoe, where she, will spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Catalano. Her sons, Wallace and Mowat, have since received a letter from her telling how greatly she en- ioyed the trip by air.
