Serehe for the late Clare ISureres, son of Mrs. Oliver ,Surerus, who', was killed in France -on September 17th;, was held in .the Emmanuel. Evangelical Church on Sunday evening. Rev. C. B. Heckendorn conducted the service and spoke very fittingly to a very large audience, ae the c'hnrdh was well filled. Included in the service were: The Last Post played by El- wood Truemner; Two Minutes 511- ence, the National Anthem. The Men's Chorus and the local Choir each sang a number. In his address, Rev. C. B. I•l;eckendorn told of how Clare met his death from information received from his brother Leeland still in France. It was Clare who fn t spotted the enemy and opened firew•The officer commended him lr 1i- l:y for his prompt action and said that he undoubtedly saved the lives of many of his men.
