The Couneil of the Township of
Hay met at the Town Hall, Zurich,
on October 2, 1944 at 2.00 p.m.
•After -theedzeading of three
of the previous meeting several items
of correspondence were dealt with,
and the following motions were then
dealt wtih.
That the drainage petition present-
ed by Brine Tuckey and signed by
nine interested persons be accepted
and that the Clerk be authorized to
notify the County Engineer.
That a by-law be drawn up ap-
pointing the Township Clerk and
Treasurer to make out the tax not-
ices and that taxes be paid at the
Bank of Montreal, Zurich, Hensall
and Exeter.
That the Council of the Township
of Hay donate a pair of small pigs
or three War Saving Certificates to

Late Christian Zirre
Called to his eternal resting place,
there passed away at his home on the
Bronson line, Hay Township, Christ-
ian Zirk, on October 8th, 1944, af-
ter a. lingering' illness of four months
He was born in Germany, May 23rd
1862 and came to Canada when six
years of age with his mother. Was
a very heed working and industrous
-man. He eaves to mourn his lose,
his sorrowing widow Catherine Bett-
